Yes, but consumes less power as well. Battery in this is pretty light and so real world you only get about five or six hours, but that is fine for me use. I do see that it is a bit slower than my SP2, but the speed is fine for what I need it to do.

(also, y processor is for the tablets who want to run haswel technology - but you get a 10-15% slow down in speed, the u is used for the ultrabooks which can have larger batteries but get full speed)
