Your eyes may have watered when you saw the price, but it's actually very good for a professional-level video-editing package like this. This is a damn sight cheaper than Adobe Premiere Pro and does most - if not all - of the things that Adobe's editor can, so it's definitely worth considering if you're planning to start creating decent YouTube videos.

From what I gather, its video editing software. Looks like a crazy price but I guess everyone has there needs. Heat given for the price compared to 3rd party on Amazon but I still dont know why its so expensive.
Not sure why its cold, yes 99% of HUKD wont use it, but its a good price if you do
Great price if you need it, was impressed when I used one of the older versions
cold, 13's an unlucky number.
I read somewhere that Sony are discontinuing the Vegas Pro range so if true you are buying into a dead end.
That doesn't have to be a deal breaker but as video standards/formats do change and 4K is still bedding in it's worth considering.
Good price.

SVP has supported *real* native 4k [not the crappy one you see on TV's] editing since V12, so for this price point on the full V13 its a crazy price ;-) Not sure on the discontinuing as the worse think about Sony Software and upgrade paths are the not very good support / R&D teams in Gateshead and Holland.. the BigG seems to know more about that they are doing then the company itself!!!!

It's the changing nature that I highlighted not the current state of play.
Great discount for those who know and appreciate what SVP is all about -- heat added.
Picked up a copy from Amazon, good price. Used before very capable piece of software.
Adobe are pushing for subscription model so this is a good price and you will actually own the software.

Got a couple questions for some of you who have used this software...

A. Could I self learn this? Even at a basic level or cutting bits of video and adding images etc I enjoy capturing video and learning some editing skills would be awsome to add some finishing touches and merge videos together.

B. Would I need a high spec setup to process some videos? Not talking 4k but up to 1080p.

A) I self learned it but so far I've self learned most of the Adobe package. I can't say how good you are at learning stuff. But there's plenty YouTube help out there.

B) any video editing needs a half decent rig to run on. The preview playback needs the power mainly so you can see what you're editing. I've found previous versions of Vegas hellish for playback even on an i7 with 24gb of ram. Adobe premiere runs no bother on the same rig.
Love Vegas Pro, I use it all the time for my YouTube channel. It's the easiest and does the best quality out of loads of editing software I've tried.
I just do basic editing but it can do a hell of a lot when I've been messing about.

It is great software for starting out. Most things are intuitive and there are plenty of tutorials knocking about. Adobe software I found to be more powerful, but considerably more complex (and expensive, unless pirate).
A fairly modern PC (quad core + 2GB+ ram is likely required). Would recommend "trying before you buy"...
Vegas is great editing software. Decent price.
Vegas is a top program. It is professional quality and this price is a steal.
You can pick up the Movie Studio version for a fraction of this price and it'll do most of the same stuff. See the comparison of features here. Even if you're an enthusiastic home movie director then pro will probably be overkill for what you need and you'll save significant sums of money opting for one of the Movie Studio versions instead.

If you find batch rendering (splitting a video up into multiple parts and getting it to render them all as separate files), or need more than 10/20 audio / video tracks at once (you won't!) then the Pro version will suit you better.

A word of warning, in the past I've installed Vegas products too many times because I like to reformat, and it eventually demands that I buy a new one if I'm to continue using the product. Be careful with how many times you install it!

Yeah lots of tutorials out on YouTube and other sites for you learn from
I understand there are ways to get this for free using unspecified torrent sites. Obviously I would not condone this, but it can be done.
The standard non-pro version of Vegas is remarkably capable for a fraction of the price and well worth checking first although I suspect anyone considering the pro software will know what they need. I've used the standard software for a while as it natively supports AVCHD and I found it easy to use although it's fairly hands off, other software may step you through everything with wizards but Vegas doesn't. The only reason I bought Pro was for Velocity Envelopes which allows you to vary the playback rate during a clip which is useful for slow motion work, the non-pro version only allows you to set the playback rate per clip so you can't have a clip run faster, slow it down, speed it back up etc.

Fantastic price though, I was pleased to get the software for £200

I just ran into the activation limit too, just email Sony, a couple of days later they will increase your activation limit.

Price is great BTW. SVP

There's always one isn't there. Stop advocating/advertising software piracy. This is a deal about buying a product for a reasonable price not stealing it. You obviously do condone it because you mentioned it without quotation, if you don't condone it then why mention it of your own volition?

Translation: "Did you know you can steal software? I don't do it, but I'm just mentioning it for no particular reason (I definitely do steal it)"

Sure I mean, **** it, why bother listing any software or games on HUKD at all. In fact let's close the entertainment section too, nobody could possibly have a reason to buy movies or TV programmes when everything can be pirated...

Technically it's not illegal unless you are distributing the material on a large scale for financial gain. It's up to our government to change the laws, but the won't because Internet providers are making far too much money. So no, it's not the same as shop lifting at all.

LOL WHAT?!
Been using Vegas since it was Sonic Foundry Vegas! Fantastically useful piece of software.
Has anyone here used both Sony Vegas AND Sony Movie Studio Platinum who can tell me if it's worth the upgrade for the average YouYuber?

It depends what sort of videos you are creating?

Vlogs / Gaming Videos / Reviews / Q&A's that sort of thing.
The amount of cold given to this is definetly due to people pirating it and therefore not seeing it as a deal.

Its like saying you can steal from a shop why would you buy it?
While Sony Vegas Pro is great, I prefer the UI of Adobe Premiere Pro as it is more inviting and modern in my opinion.

The heat is over 360 so what are you on about?
I have to admit I have used Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas and personally prefer Sony Vegas hence the purchase.
