Jeez again? These things are always on like a DFS sale!

Cambridge Audio melomania 1 cheaper and better

No ANC though which is the huge draw of these
Uby_Nabi78624/02/2020 07:06

So noise cancellation is useless on earphones.

Try that in the tube and you will know the difference.

Happily using my refurbs from Sony Centre. Can confirm I anally looked at it for wax. None found. Maybe if I can book some time in the large hardon collider might it detect some particles but (not sure if that's even how it works lol) ...

Cheapest they have been , might jump at the £100 mark

great deal though
Ooh tempted. No black ones though.
Just sent some back. Fell out my ears way to easy.
They regularly fall to about £159 for black ones brand new... if these were closer to £100 then yeah

The isolation on the Melomania’s is better than the ANC on these, I sent mine back.

Interesting, so you're saying that Melomania's are better than ANC on these when in transportation? Are better dealing with train and plane noises?

That arguement is total nonsense as in-ear headphones create a natural passive noise isolation anyway. So noise cancellation is useless on earphones.

Totally wrong! Active noise cancelling is worlds apart from passive noise cancelling.

Yeah considerably better in my opinion, with the foam tips, I don’t use the silicon.
Had these ending up sending them back far too big and bulky for ear buds and not that great of a grip in the ears when moving around alot for me.
"These aren’t noise cancellers, so they cannot compete with the isolation offered by Sony’s WF-1000Xs, for example."

Actually appreciate this, I'm in two minds whether to pony up the cash to get some ANC earbuds and the WH-1000XM3 are definitely top of the list in potential purchase.

So, another question to throw-in to the debate, is there anything stopping you putting foam tips on the WH-1000XM3 too and would you finally get a similar performance?
Just ordered a pair, thanks.
Sent mine back. Terrible updating procedure and Bluetooth range and connectivity was awful. My Samsung KS7000 did not like these at all, fuzzy sound and if I moved to the edge of the room lost, went worse or lost completely. No such issues with air pod pro in same situation so definitely something amiss.

I have a pair of Bose qc35 ii and don't really like them because of the compressing feeling when ANC's on. Also for people don't flying everyday I really don't see the point of having ANC. The Cambridge audio ones come with foam tips which provide best sound isolation with no ANC imo, I commute in noisy environment everyday and use them everyday, very happy about them.

They provide very high sound quality with a balanced profile. However if you like your music to be very bassy then these probably aren't the best choice other than this they are great.

They actually come with foam tips as well as the standard tips.

Total of 7 sets of tips 3 foam and 4 normal.

Don't ask me what the difference is in terms of performance as I've not used the foam ones to be able to compare them.

It’s the way they fit. The Melomania’s go deep into your ear canal and feel much more secure than the Sony’s, that’s perhaps why you have comments on here about the Sony’s falling out during exercise.
You're best bet is buying both and keeping the ones you prefer as everyone is different
Would they accept returns once tried on?

Using some Comply foam tips with mine.

I’m not sure about Sony centre? I got mine from JL at launch, they had no problem with returning them because I was disappointed.
Comes with free earwax too
very hot, don't even want to think at what I paid new at john lewis when they first came out :/

I'm only worried about them staying in. I've got Jabra 65e and they just fall out

Those graphs look like the Sonys would be much better for transportation noises, given the big spike to 0db on the Cambridge Audios around the lower mids..
I don't think this supports your earlier argument..

Lol
Except for the Noise cancellation and typec battery case, the, 7 times cheaper QCY-T5 or Haylou GT1 offer the same functionality.

Thats dissapointing. I tried the first iteration of these and thought the ANC was a bit "meh". Ended up getting the XM3 over ears, which have excellent ANC. But like the convenience of wireless buds, so was hoping these were better. Guess they still can't pack decent ANC into this form factor
