Can not decide if these are worth it or not
And these are the 2nd gen. version?
My first experience with the refurb was not so great. While the headphone worked perfectly, there were a few scratches I was not happy with it so returned

Yep, M2 denotes 2nd gen.

I have the first version of these and they're simply amazing. After a recent flight, my wife now has serious "headphone envy" - any hint of aircraft noise simply disappears once these are activated.
Stocks gone already, these are so fast moving...

Anyone got any tips on getting a pair of these? I have HUKD alerts set (which don't come through to my phone as i regularly kill my unused apps & emails get filed away as unimportant by gmail.
I've also been promised by SonyCentres via Live Chat they'll call me when they get more stock. Never happens.

Anyone any ideas?

Tried that before and not been successful, but not yet today - Which number should I call?

Edit just seen OP - will call that number!

Rang for appox 2 mins then hung up automatically. I assume theyve gone home for the weekend

Sony make great products; real shame about their customer service- they could learn a thing or two from amazon CS.
All good if products have nothing wrong with them. But when faulty or any issues, good luck with CS- I d not buy their refurbs anymore, and avid them as retailers! They are sooo slow and sluggish in response and a nightmare to deal with!

The ones you linked are the First generation (mdr-1000x, 2nd gen is the WH-1000XM2). Also a tenner more expensive.
Finally managed to bag these, tried last few times but was always too late. Was still available on website for me..?
I couldn't believe when I saw these pop up. Clicked on the page and they were already gone. I'm using some I got from Amazon a few days ago and I love them, but would've gladly sent them back to get the cheaper price. Looks like these sell like hot cakes.

ah gotcha
anyone know if these would cancel out snoring noise effectively?
Lot of Bose qc35 on ebay under £240
I recently got a pair of these and found them better than Bose for build quality! sound quality and noise cancelling is excellent. On recent trip to Australia the 20 flight was made so much better with these cancelled all sound and when took them off couldn’t believe how loud the plane sounded. Also great on train and underground. Well worth the investment.

why don't you use earplugs for that? they are much cheaper and more comfortable when trying to sleep.

Get the bose 35 II you won’t regret it. It’s what I done, was about to pay £249 for these but for the bose for. £216 . Class. eBay and gumtree have loads bose for around £200-220
You can’t even feel the bose on your head after a a few minutes as if nothing it there
Buying used headphones is a bad idea. Wearable electronics are worth a new purchase, not a product you want to skimp on.
I bought the 1000x via amazon warehouse for £135 like new, best noise cancelling headphone on the market, long battery life and excellent sound quality.
In my opinion there's no much difference between mine and the 1000xm2, if you wanna save money I would say go for the 1000x
Bose qc or this?
Thanks

Bose qc or this?Thanks

I have the Sony’s and they’re great. I know the bose are great too. The sound quality is about the same on both but maybe a tad better on the Sony ones. Most people say the Bose ones are more comfortable and they’re probably right but I find the Sony headphones very comfortable. I haven’t tested out the bose ones. The main reasons I picked the Sony ones are that I liked the design better (personal preference) and for the longer battery life. All in all I’d say it depends on which ones you can get get the cheapest. They’re pretty much as good as each other.

Difference is minor. Mostly longer battery life and a few tweaks to sound and noise cancelling.

Not worth it IMHO.
I’ve got a stupid question: how do you use a wireless headphone in the plane? When you put your mobile on plane mode, it cuts all the wireless communication, so how can you listen to music?

Bluetooth can be enabled in flight mode
Sony suck, do not buy! Had the first gen, they drop firmware updates so fast, their support is poor and mine developed cracks on the inside and broke off.... I now had to use them with tape.

Yes it was a design/manufacturing fault. Sony will repair them free of charge provided you have the original receipt.
