You've obviously never tried them if that's your opinion.

I did actually,I bought them and test them at home for a week (as well as few other pairs),noice cancelling was good but sound quality was thrash compared to many other headphones in same / similar price range.
maybe you should try good sounding headphones before defending these blindly.
Bang & Olufsen P8,P9 ,Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless,Sennheiser Momentum Wireless are few examples that wipe the floor with Sony XM2.sound quality, build, material, comfort is night and day difference.

Yes,bulky,heavy and un-attractive.

P7 do not have ANC, PX's do and are like wearing a vice on your head, P8 are on ear, P9's are £100 more and ANC is poor in comparison and the Sennheiser doesn't have ANC either.

These, the XM3 and QC35 II are the best Noise Cancelling headphones, period. Nothing better for blocking noise and that's what they are for. Your list seems to have omitted the USP for these cans.

I've used the version 1's and thought they looked good and not bulky at all. They're headphones so their appearance shouldn't matter, to.a point

I was talking about sound quality.

they are bulky and big (and plasticy and break easily according to many complaints),looks, build quality and material used and comfort are definitely important.
Sony delivers good noise cancellation and good technology (touch controls etc) but it really lacks in sound quality and build quality department.and sound quality is the single most important factor of headphones.
if noise cancelling isn't that important, better options are available.if you listen to P7 or H9 for example you can't even tolerate Sony's dry and dull sound anymore.

Definitely more specific then just clunky. Thanks
