Are these comfortable for glasses wearers
    prankz2k's avatar
Yep. I wear glasses and I don't find it annoying when I have these headphones on.

Do student beans and such work on these headphones as they do on the Pixel phones?
    Clexa's avatar
Just tested and the item isn’t qualified for this code

It's a very good question. I just bit and bought these. I reckon the only way to find out is individual testing - I'll be pretty picky at this price level and will likely return unless totally happy. Can't wait to give these a go though as it should be a solid upgrade from my current beloved Sony WH-H900N...

I've just spent the last hour or so comparing them to my wf-1000xm4s and wh-1000xm3s and imho the xm5s offer a lot more detail than those. There is a bit of nanny stating as they have less volume than xm3s. They sound great and have a real premium feel

Good price but I’m after the XM4’s for as close to 200 as I can get.
    npinn001's avatar
They were £179 on BT shop earlier

Huh, if I go via the link here it's the price stated but if I go via the cashback link through my employer's discount portal they're the regular price. Only 2% cashback though. So much for double-dipping. *edit* Same for going via the Nectar link from their website. So you can collect the points for the regular price or get the discount and no points. Good deal, thanks for posting! (edited)

That’s what I did, if it works, great. (edited)

Superb headphones! I absolutely love mine, now that I have figured out all of the settings & got the sound exactly as I want it. The 4's are a steal at £179 if your budget won't stretch to the 5's.

    4s are oos

Have the xm3 - would have upgraded but xm4s & xm5s don't fold which is a deal breaker for me (for now)
    bizzlebyron's avatar
    The XM4 fold.

Has the durability improved on these? I had the XM3's great sound quality but their all plastic construction was no better than a £80 set. Mine lasted about a year of very careful usage (they never left the house, always put back in their case). If I'm spending £200+ I want them to last so long that I need to change the ear pads. I now have the Anker soundcore Q30 (not quite as good but a fraction of the price) and the Jabra Elite 45 for the gym (far more robust than the Sony's). (edited)
    cavester's avatar
I looked at them in Currys and tbh the look and feel are I thought were very poor. Plastic

I have Bose QC35ii, are these any better?
    simowl's avatar
Haven't tried the 5s, tried the XM3 and XM4, would say a bit better sound quality and NC (not super noticeable for me, but didn't try side by side) but way too uncomfortable - felt pressure and headaches after 20 minutes. Even after a few weeks when they "stretched" out I still couldn't manage more than 30 minutes, compared to QCs I wear all day long. Maybe my head is too big lol.
  10. pako.pako's avatar
ANC wise, they're superb, for sure. I can't recommend them more.

Also, pairing with two devices at a time is a great feature (I wish there were three available ). Sound quality is good for me, too, but I'm not a musician by any means, hah.

However, other things like being comfy, connection stability or overall look and feel are somewhat disappointing at that price tag (got them for £274 a while ago).
    TonyS's avatar
Could you expand a bit on the connection stability? What device are you connecting to? Do any settings tweak help? I remember a long time ago I had a new pair of headphones that kept dropping out and it was fixed with a firmware update (they were XM2 or QC35 can't remember which). How is it with an iPhone?
  11. Paul_Hobbs07's avatar
How good are the Sonys at handling multiple Bluetooth signals? I listen to music on my phone most of the day but want it to switch to my laptop when a teams call comes in. My ancient Bose do this fine so assume these will too?
    CaptainObvious's avatar
I do it on the plane all the time with no issues.
  12. deleted2901939's avatar
My XM4's lasted for exactly 2 years. Popping and feedback from the ANC. Sony saying nope, warranty expired (ignoring the 6 year rule) despite the fact it seems like a flaw in the design of the product because a lot of people are having this exact same issue.

    What a letdown

The headphones or the deal? The headphones are the best sounding wireless I've ever heard

Bought. Delivered tomorrow. “Lost” my XM4’s to my daughter at university.
  16. neilgle's avatar
Thanks. Just ordered and used 12 months interest free on PayPal credit. Much appreciated.
  17. ratty93's avatar
Decent price as they seems to have gone back up to £300. I managed to pick them up for £250 at John Lewis last week but that was only for a couple days and they went back to the usual price. Either way they are absolutely spectacular headphone. Block out background noise so well when on a phonecall with them.
    hukdbuddy's avatar
I've got XM3 and sometime people say they can't hear me on calls,

Read these have better microphones, can you compare if you had xm3.....or anyone else

Few YouTube comparisons are American and complicated. Just want an answer if there better or now haha
  18. MoneySavingPunjabi's avatar
I'm hoping Sony give these for free in a few months when they release the new Xperia 1 V
  19. dragon97's avatar
I wonder if currys would do a price match too. Heat added
    ipswich78's avatar
Why wouldn't you just buy them from BT?
  20. jonno946's avatar
I would be mighty tempted by this if I hadn't pulled the trigger on some QC45's via Student Beans last night
  21. s1hal's avatar
Was considering getting these last night as an upgrade for my Bose qc35ii. This is a sign. Thanks
    dazg23's avatar
Are these better than the Bose QC35?

Strangely I bought these and the sale went through bank app approval but they’ve not put a hold on the money. I assume the order will fail shortly.

269 on Sony centre as refurbished. Got mine today and brand new
  25. painty's avatar
Is the NC on these any better than the XM3?
    imdurc's avatar
Yes, definitely a good deal better!
  26. Lee_Harriszn0's avatar
I believe this is a customer specific price, I have a similar above average discount on another product from BT for a Xbox headset because I purchased a Xbox from BT shop.
  27. matthewtracey2012's avatar
Anyone find a good deal on the xm3 or xm4?
  28. Florencethedog's avatar
Ordered, were dispatched within 30 mins!
    CaptainObvious's avatar
I ordered at 12:37 and still nothing.

I ordered yesterday and it is still 'processing' (sad face)

£259 at dimprice (can't post link here as they are banned)
    Clexa's avatar
    Isn’t that a scam website?

Had a pair of Bose QC35 in 2016 and lost em during a "quick drink after work(tm)" in early 2018. Switched to Sony XM2 and found they were much better suited to the bass-driven music I prefer. My poor well worn XM2s are just about hanging in there now.

    Time for an upgrade!!
    Rod_SmithmPK's avatar
I had xm2 and upgraded them to xm3. Xm5 has a much more refined sound. Its sonic character doesn't change as much xm3 does when noise cancelling is engaged.

Bought these for £320 in Silver three days ago

bought the soundcore anker q30 instead

How are they for sound and anc?
  34. gggonegirl's avatar
anyone else feel like sound quality on the xm4’s isn’t that mind blowing for the price? makes me wonder if my settings are wrong lol
    CaptainObvious's avatar
Not many things in life are mind blowing.I find. Maybe just some sense of perspective, but they’re good for def I’d say. (edited)

    NIce one. Thanks for sharing
  36. AVguy18's avatar
Had these for a year now and they are incredible.
  37. cavester's avatar
I've got QC35II and it's questionable if these are any better even if they are 2 generations newer, but I couldn't resist for £22 a month with 0% interest free PayPal. Feels free (edited)
  38. chorizotuna's avatar
Bought them to replace Momentum 4 which sound amazing but had lots of issues and non existant ANC.

I hope they will sound better than XM3 which sounded quite bad.
  39. Craigslist_isBetter's avatar
Price on website is £329 but if we go through HUKD link it’s 269!
Is it a special price for HUKD or something?
    CaptainObvious's avatar
Yes looks that way. I still managed to get 10% cashback too through CS. (edited)
