If stock runs out at Amazon also available at Halfords for the same price. Use code FLASH8. Or buy from the eBay Halfords store without the need for the code.

Got this unit, works well with both CarPlay and Android Auto. One disappointment though is that it only has a resistive touchscreen.
And I've found that Waze doesn't run too well on it either, although Google maps works fine.

Thanks for the heads up. That was my main reason for wanting to purchase this model.

Mine too, so was rather annoyed to find that Waze basically was still thinking I was at the end of my street when I was over 20 miles away - it's easy to switch to Google and that knew exactly where I was.

I'm wondering if it's more of a fault with android auto rather than the head unit itself
I'd still recommend it, it's a nice easy to use machine
The Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB from Halfords works brilliantly with Waze. I got this fully fitted last week at Halfords for £361.80 with a 10 percent code,( cheaper than I could buy all the parts)
These are very nice but I do wish in general that they would start putting a little higher res screens in head units (this is 800 x 480)

It’s an android fault. All of the GPS calculations and whatever else happens on your phone. The headunit is merely a display for it.
I have this head unit and it’s fantastic. Have had no issues using CarPlay and Waze, update to ios13 in September will make it even better for iPhone users. Good price.

Already using iOS 13 on mine thanks to the public beta, works well!
Anyone know which has the better sound between this and the pioneer 230?

I've got pioneer now but it doesn't have Android auto so I'm looking at replacing it
Are people mad? this is a complete POS! 'Premium' receiver, yes, a 800x480 resistive screen sounds premium to me .... in 2005

It looks fine, you want 4k in your car? Lol

Anything new worth mentioning
Bought the very same stereo from Halfords via Ebay for £271 last week. I know we dont have time machines but just saying so people know there have been cheaper deals recently.

I actually bought a dirt cheap iPhone SE just to try it. CarPlay has finally had a revamp and has a nice new dashboard with map, music controls and Siri suggestions all on one screen. You can now also use other apps on your iPhone without it affecting CarPlay. Still buggy atm though.

Ooh ok, the carplay isolation sounds useful
If I had a gripe with this unit it would be nice to have bigger icons when switching apps. Can be quite fiddly selecting them as they're quite small on the left hand side of the screen

I'd want 1920x1080 at the absolute minimun if I was buying an after market head unit! The worst part is the resistive screen though, absolutely ridiculous in 2019 and there's no way I'd have anything like that in my car, not even if it was £50.

If you get a better screen on a budget smart phone then you have to ask what you are paying £300, bearing in mind this is essentially a slave screen to your phone.

To be fair even cheap tablets can have 1080p+ screens now so at this price you'd think you'd get a better resolution. I'm sure it'll do the job but the markup on units like these must be huge
Does this need the phone to be plugged in or can it do the fancy stuff wirelessly? Not convinced I can be bothered with plugging it in each time. I've got an X8700DAB in one of the cars but could be tempted to upgrade if it's wireless.

Somewhat agree with regards resolution as a lot of things like iDrive from 10 years ago have at least comparable, if not better, displays. Still, this kicks the backside of most £100 car headunits which still have a display stolen from an 80s Casio calculator.

No, it doesn't, I bought a 7" touch screen head unit from wish for £22, it has a better screen than this £280 one.

With apologies, I was referring to off the shelf stuff from brands you'd find in your local branch of Halfords like Kenwood, Sony and Pioneer.

Even a lot of the cheap double din units from the likes of Kenwood still have a shit 88888888 type display. The Pioneer I've got in the MR2 has a full pixel display that's no better than a similar Pioneer I had in 2007.
