Just purchasd in my local Tesco store (Wishaw Belhaven Extra, Belhaven Rd, ML2 7NZ).

Needed a new Dab+ radio for the kitchen due to Radio X going Dab+ only. This wee cracker was showing at £40 on the shelf ticket 3 days ago but was scanning through at £30. Waited until today though when doing the shopping to purchase and bang, scanned through at £12.25. Having a quick browse, the next cheapest is around the £40 mark with some places at the £60 mark.

Probably store specific but hopefully not for anyone looking to purchase.

DAB is a brilliant technology, unfortunately we screwed it up,
Odds of finding this anywhere 1/100000 - yet another Tesco store specific clearance #YATSSC
DAB. What should've been. And what we got in reality. What a shame

I specifically recommended it for people who don't listen to DAB only …I specifically recommended it for people who don't listen to DAB only stations... OP presumably posted for the benefit of other people; so did I.

Start your own hot deal then ? I could recommend a potato for those who may need a potato but I didn't for those who dont want DAB but may want a potato ?

Nice little deal that.
Anyone looking at this should avoid this and get a Tivdio V-111 for £10 unless they specifically want one of the few DAB only stations.

Did a quick search and this is an FM/AM radio ? The OP stated he needs DAB+ for his fav station, how is this going to help ?

I have this radio and it is a great little unit. Great price. I paid £12.50 when Maplin closed down. Heat from me.

Another store specific deal goes silly hot,
Is it any wonder they don't bother doing national deals any more.
They don't need too.
It's not store specific, it is national, but extremely limited stocks. SEL (but no radio!) spotted in Ashford (Middlesex) Extra

Genuine question, why? Apart from the £2 saving, whats better about the one you recommend? I'm not bothered about DAB, and want one for the bedroom.

Aside from the £2?! That's 20%. Anyway aside from that it takes a really common Lithium battery (used in Nokia phones amongst other things) so rechargeable via USB and lasts a long time. Also easily replaceable. I know the Sony takes AA and has a mains cord but I don't see that as convenient. There's also the option to record the radio input directly to a micro SD card which I know is kind of niche but it's something the Sony doesn't do. Price is really the main reason, when it comes to presets and timers they're all the same.

Where is it £10?
omgpleasespamme03/11/2019 15:47

ebay.

Those are Retekess and only called Tivdio on eBay, but do not have Tivdio marking. On amazon you can get the actual Tivdio, but it's more expensive. The v-111 either Retekess or Tivdio are AA Batteries.

I see now things have changed a bit since I bought a Tivdio. I remembered incorrectly which model I bought, I have a Tivdio V-115. Searching for that brings back results that are twice as much as what I paid for mine so I'm not sure what to suggest now. I wonder if there are rebrands available. Sorry for wasting your time.

No worries, I also find branding changes quickly as does tech. Just thought your spec for £10 sounded good.

Sunderland had one in this morning which was sold before I got there (SEL still on shelf) but they had some Pure stuff reduced too, got one of these for £12, about 5 left on the shelf this afternoon if anyone else wants one from Sunderland

amazon.co.uk/Pur…HBQ

They also had a couple of these for £29

We have a Sony XDR-S40 from a tesco clearance deal a few years ago, which is fine, we use it on batteries in the garden through summer, and it is currently being used over night for background noise for our puppy as it has decent volume controls, unlike our usual kitchen radio, which has the option of either being really loud, or off completely

If anyone has one of these S41D's already, do they sound overly "tinny"?
That's the only complaint I have about the s40
I've had £5 radios which sounded better
