I am crying inside every time I see an xperia 1 deal. Reminds me I didn't pull trigger on the o2 PAYG £200 deal few months back
Love my Xperia 5 which I grabbed for just under £400 a while back. Battery easily lasts two days unless I really thrash it. Takes really nice pictures. Can't fault it and I'm just glad I lost my old phone to make me buy it!

Spigen case for it works really well and I'd definitely recommend that. Its a slippery phone so you need some kind of case - fine without a case at home of course though.

Oh yeah - its very LOUD! Which is a good thing of course. Far louder than I am used to and the stereo speakers work really well with the Atmos setting. Easily twice as loud as my old Sony lol.

Worth?
Some details for you lovely peeps

Pros
Class-leading 4K HDR OLED cinematic display.
Flagship-grade Snapdragon 855 chipset.
Classy design with IP68-certification.
Excellent stereo speakers setup.
Top notch camera experience, photo and video.
Night-time shots are excellent.
Eye tracking auto focus and super fast Face tracking make the camera stand out.
The Xperia UI is clean and snappy and integrates nicely with Sony's ecosystem.

Cons
No audio jack.
No 4K@60fps video recording.
No night mode (though regular low-light photos are superb already).
Ultra wide cam does not have autofocus.
Battery life is not very competitive.
No Wireless charging
No Wi-Fi 6 support even though the chipset supports it

Personally I'd rather go for a second hand one as they can be had cheaper again, but each to their own, second hand obviously very differently to new.

Worth?

I would say nope. Op7t would be better option.
It's awesone phone etc... Just can't see paying £500 for SD855..
3330 battery, 6gb ram.
Only advantage is high Res screen. While I bet it drains battery. To old for £500

My only dislike of this device was the god awful fingerprint scanner that barely works =/ hopefully thats fixed on the 1 mk 2
Cold. Better buy the X1 Mark ii which is 98% the same as the X1 for £1099 lol

Great price I had this phone since since launch about June 2019, cannot fault Mr switch knows I've sent sample pictures, info reviews, about over last year or so, and he also knows I have access to lot of phones, s9, s9, xz1, xz premium, had xz2 premium, tried all the l series xperias, had Xperia 10, use iPhone 8 for work, etc recently I broke my Xperia 1 dropped in pond in early April, so I've Been using Google pixel 3 for over 3 months, although very capable phone in most areas it lacked in certain areas that my Xperia 1 excelled. The display was disappointed, lacked brightness and detail, battery lasted longer on my Xperia 1, software was almost the same as pixel, performance was faster on the Xperia, but it was the 21.9 screen ratio I missed the most, its seriously the most natural and comfortable phone to hold and display content. I have just brought another Xperia 1. Lot people comment on xperia without actually owning long term, it's not just specification but the whole package it works and looks different from the rest. I will be selling my 3 month old pixel 3

It's bit just specification it's the whole package, its Japanese quality your paying for not just Chinese generic off production phones. The advantages are the 21.9 screen ratio and 4k display that's big deal

@MrSwitch any reason these wouldn’t be UK-spec and new (ie not refurb) ?

No reason at all, no.

Other buyers on that site comment that other phones are EU version, not UK. So I was just curious.

Surprisingly great. Always lasted from morning to night. Never died on me. Impressed considering the size of the battery.

My Xperia 1 speakers exactly the same, really loud stereo speakers, don't Evan need Bluetooth speakers when watching TV or sky on this. The key is turning on Dolby Atmos this makes the biggest difference.

I'm u using mine without case, the back glass is stronger then you think, feels nice without case, I did originally have case.
