is it me or does this seem like a bad deal compared to the competition at that price point
hey Switch, quick question - Does this have Dual sim, micro sd? Thanks
Less than RRP so hot. As always with Sony expensive for what it is, 100 quid or so less and it would be a hit.

Yeah but your paying for whole experience, it's not about spec but quality, your getting 21.9 oled screen, and waterproof design, and Clean form off android experience, some other phones can't offer

It depends some people don't like all the cheaper Chinese phones, but would prefer something like this, the build quality is far superior then lot other phones at this price market, plus the android skin on Sony keeps them fast and lag free for years, unlike a lot off other brands. I went from a Samsung s10 to xperia 5, the Xperia 5 was lot better in most areas, especially performance and screen quality.
I think Argos.co.uk is same price, for those like me who get discount there?

Weird thing is, on their own website, they say 'Nano SIM and Nano SIM' implying dual SIM...

No problem
Decent price for an OLED and IP68 rating. Perhaps an alternative to the Pixel 3a, albeit the pixel camera will be superior. Might be able to get GCAM on this device though.

I have the 3a. Waiting for the 4a unless a great deal comes up before then.
Good price drop

I have pixel 3 as spare phone now, wasn't impressed with the screen or battery life, have Xperia 1 now but did try a pixel for few months, screen on the Sony far better, and it will very similar on the Xperia 10 ii. The software almost the same as pixel which is plus point

Looks a cool phone, good price. I'll see if there are any reviews about
Whats Sony's flagship phone nowadays?

@MrSwitch I've got a real issue of choosing my next phone, I had samsung, but don't want another because of a personal boycott around warranty. I had Xiamoi mi9t pro, was good, but want a better camera... Wondering what the next best flagship would be? Had sony years ago and was impressed...

Sony are bringing the naming of their phone range in line with their camera range. So there's been Original, Mark 2, 3 and 4 so far with some of their cameras. So next year if Sony are still making phones by then, then you can expect Xperia 1 III and the following year Xperia 1 IV. It's not a great naming convention but that's how they've been naming their mirrorless cameras for a few years now.
Switchy keep your eyes peeled for the new Sony Xperia 5 II, that looks to be interesting, because it'll be 21:9 but a more manageable sized phone and still have most if not all of the tech of the Xperia 1 II.

I originally wanted the Xperia 1 II, but EE decided they weren't going to offer it, only 3rd parties selling it on EE and you can't transfer your number with a third party on EE The Xperia 5 II is right up my street, so I'd ditch the Oppo for an Xperia 5 II, no doubt Sony will have improved the camera firmware by then too.

My wife took out a SIMO deal on EE in 2019 with Affordable Mobiles and we PAC'd her number over... Might be a new policy?

There's no way if you're with EE directly that you can port your number via a third party. Even the third party sellers explain this on their sites. So I couldn't use mobiles direct or other such sellers. I did research it and EE told me straight it's not possible and so did the 3rd parties.

The only way around is to port the number to another SIM on another network, sign up with the 3rd party and give them the number on the new network and they'll port it back to EE. I really couldn't be bothered and if something went wrong I would be totally screwed without my number as it's linked to so many services.

EE don't offer high end Sony phones I don't know why, but they just don't. So I ended up with the best OPPO they do at a decent discount, coming from a Pixel though the OPPO has fantastic hardware and rubbish software, I can't go in to all the details but ColorOS is dreadful. This phone is massively gimped by the OS. Some of the decisions in the design of the OS are mind boggling insanely stupid. It has a ridiculously good screen though, really excellent audio and the camera has better detail and versatility than any Pixel phone. ColorOS though, is there a worse Android version currently? If so I'd hate to see it.

My sincere apologies. I didn't read your original message as if to say you were already with EE. Your use of the word transfer should've been my clue.

I thought you were told by EE or the 3rd party that you couldn't come over to EE from some other network without going with EE direct. I understand now.

I use a Realme phone and while I'm okay with it, Oppo and their sister brands typically have a good deal of support in the modding community over at XDA, if you are okay with custom ROMs?

I haven't used a custom ROM for around 8 years or so. I may look at it but I'd need to ensure all my secure apps work on a custom ROM. I'll have a look and see what they've achieved so far.
