My wife has one of these.Similar performance to a Moto G but more compact, better camera and Dedicated hardware camera button. It's always been good but over shaddowed by phones like the Moto G. Excellent at this price. No 4g and probably won't get Kitkat but still a great handset especially if you want something small but good. Only 4gb internal but does have SD card so best suited to those who listen to music and take pictures but don't want loads and loads of apps.

My mistake. I thought the M was the same 400 series processor as the Moto g. Main advantage though is size. my wife did not want anything as big as the Moto G. The Xperia is much smaller.

There is only about a 5mm difference in size and when phones are placed on top of each other they actually appear exactly the same size. Granted, the Moto G is slightly heavier. Another phone to consider against the Sony is the new HTC Desire 310 - better spec and can be bought for £30 less at Tesco.

How on earth is having a smaller screen an advantage?

Yea I got that wrong. I thought it was the S400 not the S4. Still a good performer. I have updated description Good enough for normal everyday use though. no lag. Probably not one for high end games. but it doesn't have the storage for them anyway.

Surely you can understand why not everyone wants a huge phone. Don't get me wrong I have an N5 but My wife wanted something compact and when even most "mini" phones are 4.3 inchs getting something small that is not rubbish is hard. This is easily better than something like an Xperia e1 with no front camera and no flash
One of my friends has just bought one as well. After breaking the screen on his Z1 for the 4th time he wanted something that would fit in his pocket more easily and be cheap to replace if he did break it.

It does not sound a lot when put like that but by volume the Moto and HTC are 40% bigger by volume and that is a lot. Held in the hand side by side they are a very different proposition. Obviously size sells these days and even Apple look like they are about to abandon the notion that smaller is better . but for anyone who wants a small, quality handset at a good price I would still recommend this to anyone.:o)
