Pre-Order- due 07/05/12, £5.99 for Next Day Delivery. £330-£380 at most online retailers (play.com, handtec etc)

Great price for upper-mid range phone (yes its 2.3 but will be updated to ICS within about a month of getting it).

Similar price to lower-mid range HTC One V but this has double ram, dual core processor, 8MP not 5MP camera, 16GB onboard storage and a larger 4 inch higher res screen (960*540) with WhiteMagic technology and Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

Yes, no micro SD card slot but seems to be the way things are going, and had same internal memory as HTC One S which is almost twice the price. Indeed, apart from a slightly smaller screen and slightly slower dualcore processor, the spec is virtually identical to the One S.

Those voting cold, what phone is better at this price point? I'm aware of Huawei Ascend G300 but doesn't compare in terms of quality, camera, build etc.

removable battery?

"Sony's second addition to its NXT range of smartphones - the Xperia P - has gone up for pre-order in the UK with a price tag of £330."

myjess: fraid not, annoying trend I agree. Neither do HTC one X, One S, One V, Titan II nor Xperia S, Xperia P, Panasonic Eluga, Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 900

can i rely on this site?

whats the difference between this and xs

"Those voting cold, what phone is better at this price point?" - The HTC EVO 3d is a better spec phone at this price point with the exception of the camera

nanoblood I was wondering too, but checked it out and seems to get v good reviews: reviewcentre.com/rev…tml
trustpilot.co.uk/rev…com

Some minor quibbles in one or two cases about taking payment at time of order not delivery (seems absolutely fair to do so) but overall both 4.5 stars.

sarahmm xperia s has slightly bigger screen (4.3 vs 4), faster processor, and 12mp not 8mp camera. But its around £380 so you are saving £160 with this. As I've said, this isn't a flagship device, but it's a very good upper mid-range device at a cracking price.

Th Sony Xperia P has a better screen than the HTC Evo 3D, better GPU, more recent CPU (not seen benchmarks but suspect it will use less power) and more than likely not the 1Gb limit for app installs like on the HTC Evo 3D (although you can install apps on the SD card too). Sony has an NFC radio unlike the Evo 3D and aluminium unibody (sexier than the HTC Evo 3D but wonder if it will be scratch resistant)

Besides, where can you get an HTC Evo 3D for £230?

Let me see, loads of positive online reviews, 6 years old, positive national press coverage, based and operating out of named UK location...I strongly doubt seller is dodgy

3 annoying things about the iPhone - No removable battery, No expandable memory, and a micro sim.

And now other manufacturers seem to be following these annoying trends...

Though if I can guarantee that my sim will work when cut down to size, this is still very tempting. Is there any reason my T-mobile sim will not work in this if cut down to size correctly?

Also, is this just the black version available?

Great phone but no expandable storage is putting me off.

That says way more about your 'instincts' than it does about the site.

Major plus over the S is there is a dock available for this one. Once you've used a phone with one it's a must have.

the sim will still work fine cut down
i have a micro sim cutter looks like a stapler and cuts fulls size sims to micro ones

It's still not an iPhone though...

I think this is a bit of a deal. Yeah it's not a flagship phone but it's perfectly good if you just want a smartphone with a nice screen, camera and don't need to store loads of MP3 / AVI on it.

Compared to my HTC Desire it's a winner!

Still gonna wait for the SGSIII though.

Why does everyone also seem to be scrapping physical buttons at the bottom
Hate having to reach up the side or on the top if I just want to wake the home screen on phones

p.s. good deal though, heat added

For that price it's easily the best midrange phone around. Heat.

In two minds to sell my HTV Evo 3D and get this as the Evo is quite bulky.

I want s so going to wait for it to come down in price

So is this better than the SGSII

That must sting a bit X)

Specs aren't yet released for the S3 but it should be a lot better by far based on the S2.

and that can only be a good thing.

You have to cut up a normal sim to fit ?

Also OP states that the cpu is similar in performace to the krait (in the one-s), and that's a bit, hmmmm, to me since krait is blowing everything out of the water by double.. better to be honest and say it's a very fast cpu/gpu a9/mali400 but not the latest gen.

have they fixed the overheating problems the last one was plagued with?

it might be a misprice as the xperia u is meant to be coming out around this price but have ordered anyway...fingers crossed!

No, you can just use a normal micro sim.
I did say it was slower: just meant that the clock speed was lower, obviously in artificial benchmarks the krait in the One S will do quite a lot better but for realworld use there will be little difference.

Well I cut down my sons Tmobile sim card to fit the Lumia 710 I bought him, works perfectly....I just used a micosim cutter available from ebay...think I paid about £2.50 delivered...anyway the 2 outer brass connectors that are on a tmobile sim aren't required so I just cut through them with the microsim cutter....simples

It's not a Samsung Galaxy III either.

You can't use sd-cards with the iphone and a ton of other things with a closed o/s.

How does this compare to the SE Arc S?
