Heated for the price, however....

Awful battery, you'll never get 2 days
Software is a bit meh (granted nothing near vanilla)
Can be laggy at times, could also be my one as others have said before they like theirs.

Cheers

is the glass rounded like the XA?

Best phone offer at mo is the s8 02 12gb... waterproof 29 per month... the sonys have some nice features but they cant beat a latest samsung

You can get these for nearly £100 used/recon. I think they were down to £159.99 new as well. But it’s a pretty middling spec for an average phone, I certainly wouldn’t recommend spending £200+ on one and there are no killer features.

There is a slight curve on the display edges similar to the XA and iPhone 6 range but I believe the curve is beyond the visible area (unlike the Samsung range) so it’s easy to get tempered glass protectors.

I had a Galaxy S7 for 3 days last year, worst phone I have used. Screen is rubbish (no idea why people like Amoled) and the Samsung software made it unusable and the battery life was abysmal. I replaced it with an Xperia X compact which got me something fairly close to stock Android when using novalauncher and I keep getting security updates a month before the S7 (I gave that to my partner) and the battery regularly lasts 2 days. No idea what people see in Samsung, I'd rather have an iphone or an old school Nokia!

Amoled you need a mainly black screen, battery life showing excellent at gsmarena.

This phone has a mid to high CPU and is fast but battery life really suffers from using the older 28nm process.

Haha dont buy a uk phone... all come with bloatware. My s7 edge kicks ass

Considering an xa1 from Amazon warehouse deals (20 percent off currently).. so 130ish. Same size screen, if lower Res. Processor is mediateks version of the very efficient 625. From gsmarena review and samples, camera has been tweaked since the x, and now actually seems very decent indeed (appears better than S7 in good light!). Performance is a little behind the 650 in the X. X is also available for 140 with warehouse deals. X compact about 160. Hmm. X compact and xa1 suffer from easily scratchable back. Worried the X has rather average battery life, I'd like a solid 36 hours. Can't think of anything else for below 250 ukp with a flagshipy grade camera and 5" or less screen. Ideas?

Why do Sony phones always have a small battery capacity? It always puts me off buying. I'd love a good Sony phone.

The new Sony XA1 Plus has a large battery it's on Carphone Warehouse website. Next year Sony will be changing to new designs they said so might see bezel less phones and hopefully bigger batteries
