I recently bought this phone of amazon warehouse for £187 and it has been simply amazing especially compared to the phones I've had in the price bracket (moto g4+, redmi note 3 pro and galaxy a5 (used for a day but not owned).

It comes with 12 months warranty for that piece of mind.

The front camera is more than decent and has provided me with good quality shots.

The rear camera is also good for pictures, but however for videos it has been amazing sonys steadshot for video recordings currently beat any phone with OIS, Ive tested this against s7s and iphone 7s and the Xperia X outshines them both in stability.

"By February 2006, several redesigns had come and gone. Jony was so dissatisfied with the progression that, during one of the brainstorms, he asked designer Shin Nishibori to make an exploratory version of the phone with Sony-style design cues.

Later, he would contend that his request was not to copy Sony specifically, but to inject some fresh, “fun” ideas into the process.

Shin Nishibori had been a well-known young designer in Japan for years before coming to work at Apple. Traces of a Sony/Japanese influence have appeared in Nishibori’s work on Apple products since 2001, and Steve Jobs, Jony, and other Apple designers had often expressed admiration for Japan’s minimalist aesthetic."

The XZP true flagship at the moment for sony, had a play around with it in store and its a powerhorse of a phone. If size wasnt a issue for me that would have been my choice instead of my xz1 compact I got which is a mini powerhorse lol.

I really fancied it but the battery puts me off as does loss of waterproofing/resistance

Sony listed the xperia x performance as waterproof but not the xperia x due to extra costs for certificates, apparently in japan the phone is listed as waterproof.

I myself have used it in heavy rain numerous times and its been perfectly fine just as others have, again its not listed as IP certified but designed to be waterproof.

Again I'm not even the kind to submerge a IP68 phone in a swimming pool so if thats your kind of thing lol best bet would be going for a phone with the certification.

Heres a video which verifies what I said in the above comment and there are quite a few more videos like that.

You would have had to get the worst one used in history for that in normal usage, but again depends if you have the camera open the whole day in that case any phone would require more than a single charge a day.

Ordered thanks

Virtually your entire existence on HUKD has been complaining about Sony Xperias, I knew I remembered that gibberish speak from another thread:
hotukdeals.com/dea…003

Oh, but I must give you credit where it’s due. One post was about an LG TV where you show you can write normal sentences if you try hard enough.

But back to the phone itself, the camera is good but not iPhone 7 up or S7 beating really. It also has a weirdly midrange SoC, average battery (for a Sony) and no waterproofing. I’d honestly urge anyone who wants something different to pay a little more and get a used XZ, which is still a great flagship and can be had for around £200 on the open market.

If you can up your budget £20-£30 then I highly recommend the 2016 Sony Flagship Phone the Xperia XZ which is generally around £169+ from Smartfonestore, an amazing bargain for such a capable phone. I'm shilling it yes because I bought a Grade C XZ from them and couldn't be happier. In fact when they get an XZ1 in at the right price I'm having one of those.

smartfonestore.com/fil…spx

The prices are mad for that phone. The grade C I bought was almost flawless, so hard to find a cosmetic fault with it.

£169 for Vodafone or O2, mad price, great if you're on one of those networks, an unlock code is around £10 on eBay so don't pay over the odds for an unlocked one.

I bought a XZ Premium recently and my daughter as my Xperia ☓ it's a good phone. My boyfriend thinks they like bricks, he prefer Samsung. I will stick to Sony phones, I had a Z3 a while back too.

Yhh I see those XZ's for £170, that looks like a banging deal if its a good quality grade c with no issues, even for £200 with a camera like that and waterproofing with snapdragon 820 aint too shabby either.

I was also a previous samsung user, but can only talk about the s3 as believe it or not I had that for 4 years only moving on from that last year to a xiaomi phone.

I believe that the s2,s3 were the best at the time, but when it came to s4,s5,s6 sony and lg had both had some pretty good competition on samsung both the lg g3 and xperia z3 were imo much better than the s5, the fact that in 2017 people are still happy with z3s performance means something, no offence to samsung but I don't think anyone I know still uses there old s5 and a few of them have have issues with OLED burn which is a big no no for longetivity.

I was up for an upgrade from an S6 this year. Looked at the S8 and the every increasing silly monthly amounts, so I cancelled the £35pm EE plan and moved it to £19pm EE plan and got more data allowance! So I save a lot over the year and bought the XZ for £179 3 or 4 months ago. It's faster than the S6, less bloat too and more optimised. S8 is a better phone but it wasn't worth the extra £15pm for me at the time.

The XZ is definitely an upgrade from the s6, I personally wanted the X Compact but at the time it cost more than the xperia x so I decided to leave it.

Right now using the XZ1 Compact and truth be told in my regular usage of a phone I cant really notice a difference lol in performance apart from the insane battery life (7 hours screen on time, 2 days of moderate usage) and the rear camera, the front camera is even a downgrade compared to the xperia x for regular selfies but thats a whole different story to why it is.

Sorry to go off topic....but what's the battery life like on the XZ? Will it do 24-hours average use?

I wouldn't want the XZ1 Compact it's too small. The XZ1 is the successor to my phone so that's what I'm waiting for the price to drop on.

It's better than the S6 but that's not difficult. I would say it's quite possible to make it last 24 hours.

You deserve it.

I was this close to buying but the battery reviews I read online stopped me in the end

Has Sony managed to solve the broken screen issue? I managed to break my Z2 screen then my Z3 screen twice. On all occasions the damage was minimal (last occasion you could not see the crack unless you held against the light) but the screen would not respond to touch until replaced unlike Samsung/Apple that continue to work. I won't go back to Sony until that issue is resolved.

I have this phone and the battery as others have said is shocking! Prehaps it needs a full reboot. Looking forward to getting something differnt in the Black Friday deals. Voted hot for price

It didn’t take much to read your 7 posts. I have an iPhone 8, but thanks for being so concerned with my well-being. I wish I could say I return the sentiment but I’d be lying. Now run along, there must be more Xperia threads for you to cut and paste that response in
