£10 top up needed if you are not currently with Giffgaff.

It's not for me, but that spec for that price (I think), is really good.

Hope it helps someone.

When looking online it seems that the highest android O/s it will go up to is 8.0 Oreo. But still for £24 it seems like a good deal!

why would giffgaff give such a large cashback? i think its a mistake - more like £5.50 instead of £55 imho

T&Cs from Quidco website -

What will stop me earning cashback?

If you already have a registered account with giffgaff
If you purchase a handset for under £59
If you’re upgrading your current contract
If you’re renewing your contract
If you’re purchasing an extension
If the contract is cancelled
If the contract is not live for at least 6 months
If you choose to pay off the cost of your device early and upgrade to a new device
If you cancel a contract and start a new one to gain additional cashback
If you purchase accessories bought in combination with mobile handsets
If you apply an additional discount that reduces your overall purchase price, this may cause your cashback to be declined or reduced. e.g voucher codes, student discount, staff discountIf you pay for your purchase using a gift card
If your purchase is not fully completed online
If you complete your purchase over the telephone
If you participate in any other offer/ promotion that is not covered in the retailer cashback rates

The £55 cashback may be a genuine promotion but it is never guaranteed. Lots of small print and exclusions for them to get out of paying. Where did they dig up the stock for this model i wonder and hopefully battery is not a disaster after almost 4 years.
QUIDCO
"What will stop me earning cashback?
  • If you already have a registered account with giffgaff"

So we have a choice, chance quidco for up to £55 cashback, and pay the top up.

Anybody succeeded with this?
Like this bit...

"Free delivery. No contract. Unlocked. Check out our fabulous range of refurbished phones"

then...

"What will stop me earning cashback
  • If the contract is cancelled
  • If the contract is not live for at least 6 months
"

but but but there's no contract...?
From my experience Sony phones are not the Same as they use to be that's for sure.
I'm so glad I read the comments first no way I need another contract for 6 months.

edit: will staying on PayG for 6 months work do you think?

And you have experienced every sony phone? Bit of a sweeping comment mate. I'm currently using a 18 month old xz1 premium and I can't bring myself to upgrade, its still excellent.

As I said in my experience not been what they use to be entitled to my opinion was not saying all phones don't get your nickers in a twist

But without naming a model of Sony its just a sweeping statement.

If you don't like it cry about it then.

O if the cashback doesnt track i may return the phone...boo hoo
Quidco should wear masks.
Absolute con artists.
Bought something from one of the highest rated sites on it with a fast payout percentage.
Low and behold, I had to open a claim so it would track and have to wait up to 6 months for a decision.

Try TopCashBack. Lots of problems the last of which were:

Endsleigh They're an insurance company who at least when I went to Uni had a pretty poor reputation. But maybe they're changed; TCB is effectively promoting them and after all if you shill for another company it's your reputation on the line. Oh but low and behold Endsleigh won't pay the full cashback and TCB claim there's nothing can do. Except promote them, apparently.

Confused.com: Got car insurance with them, followed TCB & insurer terms to the letter. Once again, tracked but there's no cashback and nothing TCB can do. Except continue to promote them, apparently.

Final straw. TCB had a Snap & Save offer. I claimed on the app. They said the app was broken and I'd need to claim via their site. OK, done. Now as the offer is provided by them they can't claim that it didn't track or that the retailer declined the offer so how can they screw up this time? Oh, by claiming it's been paid out even though there's no money for it in my account. And of course there's nothing they can do.

( 2m 46s ) Me: yes I did it already and I have this answer "Please don't worry - it's normal for cashback from this retailer to track at a lower amount initially and to update once confirmed. In the unlikely event that this doesn't happen, please contact Quidco Support and we will be happy to take a look at this for you. "
( 3m 21s ) Me: So now I contact Quidco support ???
( 4m 15s ) Antony: Please don't worry, as cashback for this retailer always tracks in at a base rate, and then will be updated to the correct cashback amount when this is confirmed.

What an absolute palavah! Received the phone but in the wrong colour. Arranging a return and my account is showing an entirely different sony model as the model i am returning. Emailed the agents and no response as yet....i will not be ordering from giff gaff ever again...(right rant over) !

I had a z3c, the digitizer gave up just outside of 2 years. I replaced it myself for £50, perfect, then a year later the volume button stuck in the up position. Would only boot to safety mode.
It was a good phone but both issues are well known for that model. Luckily, late last year I bought the xz1c and like it a lot like you. I have stuck with oreo for now because I have set it up just how I like it and disabled the what's new app with a couple of other tweaks to the home buttons.
At the time of purchase, loads of people said the phone was bad in different ways including it made holes in their pockets. Not sure what they were doing , but no such problem or any other for me. The only issue if anything is the camera software for photos but I can live with that. There are issues with any make at some time.
