You seem to be obsessed with plugging phones into TVs and turning them into hobbled computers, judging by other threads. You do realise only you and six other people in the entire world actually do this, right? Also not everyone cares about bezels. Lack of them is not a sign of quality or luxury

Wow great price for a great phone! only downside is no headphone jack other than that its brilliant! handles heavy multitasking unlike any of the predecessors.

Was just about to bite on xz1 compact between 329(black) and 379(blue/green) when found this.

O2 chat did say it was locked to o2 but contact customer services and they'll unlock it for free.

It'll take upto 10 working days to get your unlock code. EBay unlocking service available for £5-10.
seems a good reduction but a bit bigger and fatter than xz1 compact
currently using an old moto g which is dog slow but dont want to pay hundreds for something decent and compact!

Know what you mean, I've x compact that's decent but battery not great and processor chugs along. Battery optimisations with new 845 processor over 835 in xz1c hopefully mean I can keep this and sim only deals for a few years. (either that or I've been watching the wrong YouTube clips!)

It has the glorious Sony logo stamped on the lower bezel and that is worth it to me. I believe Sony is also still utilising bravia engine technologies on their mobile handsets too which is utterly brilliant.
Just spoke to O2 and they say once you have registered to get it unlocked it will be done within 72 hours and there is no cost.

33907378-puJcP.jpgI've spoke to them 3 times, 1st - ye no bother, 2nd - as picture above states, 3rd - same again.

Good luck if you can get them to do it, I'm not currently using o2 so don't fancy the risk and when looking at ebay, same company was charging between 3 and 13, would rather o2 did it.

I did unlocked my sisters phone using ebay seller. Cost me £11. Code sent to my inbox within 24hrs.

I initially asked from O2 using pay monthly sim and they said code will arrive within 10 working days. All you need is pay monthly sim and 5 min call to register your phone to O2 network then you can request code.
Great price, but a big price reduction so soon after launch suggests that it's not selling well. It's still too pricey for me though but voting hot!

One of the reasons I purchased this was the bezels give me something to grip and I don't keep hitting the home button!

its not a review, its a warning. an opportunity for someone to investigate further into this brand of phones. i have the z5 premium, burning hot battery. fragile screen rubbish speakers and camera. and the specs on this were way up. not worth if the phones only going to last you 6 months before it starts failing which is what happened with mine. similar problem to the z5

So by judging one phone from a manufacturer you assume all their phones have the same quality build issues. Strange I haven’t heard of exploding batteries in galaxy s9 phones ,considering the galaxy note 7’s had them.

read my comment again. there are 2 phones i have listed there. if you knew anything about sony phones you would know this.
my initial comment was just a warning to people. but if you think sony phones are good then maybe you should state why this phone is worth the money or are you just good at trolling?

I've also had two Sony's. The Z3 compact that I had for two years with absolutely NO problems.. And now the XZ1 compact that I've had for four months... Again with absolutely NO problems. Two of the best phones I've ever had. I've also owned several iPhones, Samsung, Motorola's, LG's and about 25 Nokia's. Great little handsets..... Tempted by this one.. Bezel or not...

I can’t help myself when it comes to phones,I change them about twice a year . I’m using a s8 which is a great phone but the size gets to me a bit.ive had a couple of Xperia phones and never had issues, apart from the 720 displays being a little low resolution for my eyes (no fault on Sony’s behalf) ,I really dig the form factor of the compact series. The 1080 screen of xz2 is easier for me to read, and the finger print is the most accurate and fastest I’ve personally had. I do miss the double tap to wake feature which has been replaced by picking the phone up to see notifications but I’ll get used to it.overall I’m happy with it .
are these dual sim ?

You have been lucky with the Z3 Compact. I have one and after 1 year 10 months, touch screen faulty at notification area. Got it repaired under warranty from Sony. Again after similar time period, same fault has come back. It seems a very common issue for the Z3C. Other than this issue, agree it is a brilliant powerful phone.

Do search about the XZ2C for such issues before committing to one

I had the Z3 compact before it took a swim in a lake in Greece! phenomenal battery life and decent camera on it too. Never lagged and quick to charge as well. Compact too. Couldn’t really fault it but for the fragile glass back but I did drop it hard.
I've had my z5 compact since launch, great phone no problems whatsoever. Before the z5 I had a z1 compact which was also fine. I am tempted. I Always had samsungs before the z1 they were also good so I don't class myself as a Sony fanboy. Hot.
£419.99 is £419 to much for a Sony phone.Worst phones money can buy.

I'm a fan of the z3 compact too as my username suggests
Brilliant phone has no issues apart from the flaps, very responsive only stopped using after 2ish years when i stopped using my case and the screen cracked
Now using a 5t but much prefer the z3c

I wouldn't be too bothered about the lack of headphone jack. Inline DAC means this sounds amazing compared to the cheapo integrated DAC that phones with headphone ports have. It's literally night and day improvement (I have a HTC an s a Google adapter both less than a tenner).

If you care about audio quality, you would want an external DAC, if you didn't you would use Bluetooth (and this does LDAC over Bluetooth, so Bluetooth has 3x the bitrate of older SBS and 2z the bitrate of aac or aptx)

Got the xz2 bottom speaker weirdly got distorted and stopped working, sent it in for repair, they gave me a new one few weeks in and same thing happened, I'm on my 4th one now, one more time and I'll be forced to get LG g7
I was kind of a Sony fan in the past, had the z1 and z3 compacts. Great phones, but they did become jerky not too long after owning them.

I wanted a similar size phone with good processing power but less bezels, out came the Essential PH-1, haven't looked back and highly recommend as alternative to the z series compacts
I still hope one day, Sony will do a flagship compact with minimal bezels

I agree it's false information, maybe if you go back and read where I quoted it from, I was comparing how sul's comments would relate to other phones. .
