***Cashback increased again - now only £22.50/m after cashback - £540 total contract cost!***

**Cashback now increased to £72 - bringing this to £24/m equivalent after cashback**

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - Flagship phone that doesn't look like it's been suffering from Gigantism.

T-Mobile 500mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet.

From what I can see on T-mobiles website, all new 24m contracts have true unlimited internet and allow tethering - however I fully expect a debate around this one...

All colours available - (8 days wait for Lime & Pink)

Total contract cost without cashback £648, with cashback £600.

Quidco of £30 possible.

Current best sim-only price seems to be £389.99. If cashback and quidco all come through you could have the 24 month contract for as little as £7.54/m. Handy if, like me, you don't have the readies to go out and buy a sim-free phone!

full price contract added to OP.

Price should drop further still, Z2 ships in March.

I am not sure tethering is allowed on new contracts

That's what I thought but when I was pricing up the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One as alternatives they were coming out at the same price or more expensive for similar contracts. I've gone for it as I was slightly concerned the price could actually go up rather than down. I think this is going to be a popular wee phone due to it's size, design and waterproofing.

T-mobile terms and conditions:
t-mobile.co.uk/sho…ly/

I think the relevant section is the one at the very bottom "T-Mobile Pay Monthly Plans from 30 October 2013".

"Any plan with an unlimited data allowance gives you unlimited use of internet on your phone when you're in the UK. This means you can use as many MB/GB as you like and no fair use policy will apply. Please note, internet on your phone includes using your phone as a modem (tethering) but network traffic controls apply. "

April 2013 release has already been quashed - so March might be a push.

Im waiting for it (and the SmartBand SWR10) and heard nothing. They're not even taking pre-orders because theres been no tangible release dates yet.

Only had my Z1 for a month, but would happily upgrade for 4K Video recording

Yeah but this is the Z1 Compact and it's only just been released.
Have some heat

Saw this deal linked on Techradar last night and it jumped out at me as a good deal. The phone itself has received good reviews across the board so I'm seriously considering going for it, but not until
the end of March

I've just updated the description as cashback has increased to £72 reducing equivalent monthly cost to £24 /m.

Can anyone confirm if this contract will allow 'hotspotting' to my iPad. T-mobile's website suggests tethering is not allowed but their Live Chat advisor said using a phone as a hotspot is not considered tethering, only connecting by a cable!
Will go for it if it does.

Does anyone know where/if I can get this phone on a contract for £20 a month? Just need 500m and 1GB data.

I successfully set mine up as a WIFI hotspot for my work laptop last week - no issues with access at all. Don't see why it wouldn't work for an ipod too.

The terms and conditions are a bit misleading (as I mentioned in an earlier post) but seem to suggest tethering is allowed on new contracts.

Use comparison sites like moneysupermarket to check latest deals.

It looks like Vodafone do the phone on a contract which might work for you for £20/m after cashback (£29/m without cashback) - that's the closest your going to get at the moment...

What are these mobilephonesdirect like I'm after one for the mrs?

First time I've used them so I don't know about cashback performance. Phone came quickly - unbranded too. Can't fault them so far.

Cashback has increased so now potentially only £22.50/m after cashback. £540 total contract cost.

Shame I don't benefit but then I've been enjoying the phone for 3 weeks now so can't complain!
