The Z3 might be out and the Z4 out soon but this is still a high end smartphone with a 2 day battery, 3GB of RAM and is waterproff. Easily justifies the price.

great price....heat added

Ta very muchly!

I have this mobile well worth it ..

Really nice phone. Camera doesn't live up to its promises though, unfortunately. Still great in every other respect though, and feels really premium.

Have reserved one, but not too sure (get a 7.5% discount too with my easysaver card).

I have a Oneplus, which is great, but as an issue with iplayer on many 4.4.4 phones (stuttery downloads), is stopping me making it my main phone for nkw.

Any folk with the z2, hows iplayer on it, and also when is it getting lollipop ?

Also, is it a pain having the charging port behind the flap ?

hi I've got it. you get used to removing the flap for charging but I've had the phone go for two days without charging on basic texting calling Facebook emails ebay and some camera use and the lifelog tracking app so the battery does last well

I have both the Z2 and One+, can't remember when I last tried iPlayer on it but I shouldn't imaging it would have any issues. Charging the phone is the same like any other just open the flap and plug in the charger nothing different, but if you want you can also buy a magnetic cable that also charges it from the side port without using the micro USB.

Magnetic Charging Adapter

As for wallipop they promised it will come early 2015 so hopefully within a month or two.

Thanks for the info, but googling around it seems to have the same issues on iplayer downloads (stutter after 30+ minutes of show), its a biggie for me really.

Would have a gel case on it, I think I would have to remove it each time to open the flap to charge, so will probably leave it for now. If anyone wants a reservation for Watford Water fields Argos PM me.

I like using both but if I had to choose it would definitely be the Z2, it is definitely a superior device, better camera, waterproof, slimmer, MicroSD and active noise cancelling earphones.

Thanks, might ponder a bit longer...

Free SIM card?! WOW!

A good deal

The latest Android update 4.4.4 has killed this phone. So many problems... Mine restarts about 10 times a day by itself, gets burning hot, camera app crashes, battery drain in 4 hours (used to last 2 days), continual crashes, freezing when trying to answer a call, cant wake device up . As my phones still under warranty I'm sending it back to Sony. There are plenty of other users with the same problems and also other problems to what I've got after doing the update - not what you expect from an expensive flagship device. Repairing/flashing the firmware using the sony software fixes it for a few days then all the same old problems reappear . The advice I got from Sony support over the phone was to wait until the Lollipop update is out, or send it back for investigation. Despite there being 80 pages on the Sony forum of people posting problems Sony are adamant there aren't any issues.

My advice - don't buy this phone, or if you do don't install the 4.4.4 update as there is no way back!!

Thanks, I am thinking of getting it again, if so i presume it is 4.4.2 out of the box, wont update as iplayer should work then.

The recent 4.4.4 and 5.0+ updates have been a real screw up all round it seems.

Not much stock in NW London, but some in Watford, Borehamwood etc.

Anyone who has bought, can they confirm it comes with the noise cancelling headphones ?

Mine came with the noise cancelling headphones.. they didn't do much noise cancelling though!

Sorry but that comment about the 4.4.4 update is crap.
I have switched between the two for root a couple of times and no issues at all.
Use the official .1XX update for your phone and flash tool.
Towelroot on 4.4.2 job done.

This is one of if not the best android phones vis-a-vis value available right now.
The only limitation is that it doesn't have the latest version of android which believe me doesn't hinderance it's ability to impress at all.

my gf has the z2 running 4.4.4 and its absolutely fine.

Was considering selling my Note 4 as my partner offered me her week old Z1 for my cheapo Z. Very tempted to sell and get this instead and still be in pocket. As much as I love my Note 4, after using a Z3 tablet and buying a Z off Gumtree, I'm thinking a change would be good as had Samsung since the S3.

I bought this at launch and sold it soon after to get the S5

The battery life is fantastic on this phone (2 day charge) but I found the size and shape too uncomfortable. The curved edges of the S5 are much nicer in the hand and pocket.

Also, although the scren size are similar, people forget that the sony has touch screen buttons at the bottom of the screen most of the time, whereas samsung has back, home and multitask/hold for menu built in to the bottom of the bezel. I was also surprised that there was no wireless charging option on the Sony, which can you do witht he S5 (given they both have flaps over the charging port as they're waterproof). The sony has a magnetic charger option, but it's a bit fidly, and no car charging dock is available.

Is this actually a good price. I had a Google and can find it cheaper or the same price?

Before you give up hope, back up your valuable data and try a full factory reset. In place software upgrades are a total recipe for disaster IMO - I gave up dirty flashing ROM updates on my Galaxy S3 for that very issue, clean flashing all the way for me now, and a boat load less problems too.

Apologies if you've tried the above already - may be time to unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery like ClockworkMod and then get a 4.4.2 based ROM back on it.

The developers on here forum.xda-developers.com/xpe…-z2 probably know more about the phone than Sony's own support desk

Thanks for the advice. I have indeed been through those steps though, did a full factory reset initially, then went onto doing the repair process on the pc which is essentially a full flash i was led to believe. I'm back to using my galaxy S2 for the time being which works after all these years. I'd rather Sony spend the time fixing it than me and I don't want to void the warranty flashing it with another rom. The battery drain seems to be down to an Android Media process - other people reported this too, but it doesn't count for the endless restarts that happen throughout the day after it freezes.

I have had this phone for 2 months now, and it is excellent, iplayer is brilliant, Lollipop is due any week according to the Sony website.

5.2 is just too damn big for something you are supposed to put in your pocket!!!

I've the Z1 Compact, thats a perfect size.

a great phone and a excellent deal. I have 4.4 installed and it is rock solid for.me.

I have a 5.7 incher in my pocket :P.
Seriously though, thats my one concern that 5.2 won't be big enough after using the Note 4s massive screen.

I really like this phone, but my boss' has had an issue with the screen cracking on its own (whilst on the bedside table overnight).

Appears to be a well known hardware fault with (possibly a specific batch) of phones.

Worth checking out, as there's quite a few references to it on the net.

Still a hot price for a decent phone!

Bought this phone for my son from a guy I know, just a few months old and in mint condition. Here's my view on it.

Earrphones that come with it is really top drawer (fugly) but works really well.

Phone is a bit fugly too, reviews call it industrial looking, I agree with that but in a case looks dandy.

He's had no issues with it running latest update, does get a bit toastie when hes hammering it (basically all the time when hes not gaming or doing homework and chores).

Waterproof aspect is amazing, great for underwater photography too (shallow water).

Samsung 32GB SD card seems to work fine.

Calls on it are good even when he rings me in the school breaks with kids screaming and shouting I can hear him pretty clear.

Side dock is a little gimmicky for me but he loves it.

He gets to play with all the latest handsets, mates have S5, G3, Z3, IPhone 6 and hes more than happy to own this.

Speakers on it seem better than a lot of other phones he says (not HTC M8).

I know there are better overall phones out there but the price on this makes it one of the best value for money imo, I got it for £150 so mwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Lollipop is due FROM February and if it runs as well on this as it does on the N4 it is a real boost.

EDIT he rarely gets a full day from a charge, comes home with 80% left but 5 hours of messenger, bluetooth music, gaming, youtube etc etc its ready for the plug!

Yes google shopping.

Excellent phone... No issues with 4.4.4... Excellent battery life.. I've had a nearly every smartphone available apart from iPhones and this has the best battery life by far.. One thing I'm not happy with is the opening and closing of the charging port flap... Yes I know it has magnetic charging but sony don't sell a magnetic charger apart from a dock

my experience of z2 is very bad. camera and many other things are great but the call quality is so bad and people cannot hear me property. send it for repair and after two weeks they send it back without any improvements.

Good price but would go for G3 over this every time.

Had so many issues with Sony android updates I am selling my z1 compact.
