£344.99 Sim Free:

If you just want the phone personally I'd pay the extra for a sim free one, no o2 rom and messing around cancelling the contract.

Don't the contracts say that you agree to a 24mnth period?

You have an airtime plan which is your minutes, texts and data then a phone plan which is the cost of the phone. You can cancel the contract as long as you pay off the phone plan.

Not as simple as it sounds, I called to cancel mine after a deal similar to this was posted a few months back (Z2) I cancelled my airtime and paid the phone plan, I then received a bill for the full amount (24months). After numerous calls they refunded me the amount.

A few people who purchased it this way had the same issue. It really isn't worth the hassle over £9 imo.

O2 Sony phones come bootloader locked. So if roms or root are important to you anywhere down the line spend the extra and get sim free

Doesn't bend. FAIL

I agree with comments about refresh. They have sat on 700 quid of mine since I took a couple of m8s on a deal on here. They have been deliberately obstructive and unhelpful and I have now escalated the matter to the complaints ombudsman. 02 are simply awful

Very popular question in every O2 refresh thread but no one is bother to answer these days.

Well I don't blame O2 with lots of people on here abusing the refresh plan and conning O2 out of money.

Why? they offer a legitimate service and people take it

Afaik O2 refresh states that you can pay off the phone and get new phone, you cant leave o2 during the contract, essentially this allows you to get a new phone while in a contract.

I thought you paid off the phone and your air time contracts ends there as well?

Don't bother messing around with o2 just go back to your back and claim it though the direct debit guarantee.

The point of the service is so people aren't stuck with a phone for 24 months if they decide x months into a contract they want another phone when something is released, it wasn't introduced so that people on deals sites could use it to buy handsets on the cheap by conning O2 out of the money for the air time.

You really think O2 are making a loss selling the phone at £336?? It can be bought unlocked and unbranded for £344 - 347 from quite a few places now.

Are you just arguing for that sake of it or did you not fully read the comment you quoted? They're loosing money on the air time, refresh is a pay monthly plan not a 'simfree handset' service.
And where are these quite a few places where they are sub £350 as I've only seen one or 2 deals(that's not quite a few), not including the miss price at amazon where it was sub £300 for a few hours.
Oh and it was in regards to the many other handsets not just the z3 compact, reference has been running for awhile now and there has been similar deals for other handsets.

Did exactly the same with me on a similar deal for an S3 last year. Charged early termination fees and were unhelpful in returning the money had to wait a month and in that time they tried to take the amount again via direct debit and on top of that they listed a default against me.
