it was listed on here £279.99 last week I'm sure, I thought that was a bit high given how long it's been out and its not much of an upgrade from the Z3c.

Have you had a 3c too? My Mrs has the 3c, and I'm contemplating getting her the 5c, is it worth the upgrade for her?

I disagree sorry. I wish id never upgraded from my Z3C.

The phone gets hot and crashes regular. The phone feels less premium and fatter than the Z3C and the magnetic charging port is absent.

Yes the fingerprint sensor is great and the flap is better, but then it goes downhill.

I dont like Sonys software now either, they have made the music player even more difficult to use and navigate in my view.

I am currently looking at selling mine...I wish id kept my z3c, that was a great phone!

I would have raved about the Z5C when i first got it, but have to say after sticking with it since February, I will be glad to see the back of it and will think twice about buying from Sony's future range.

soggybeans, I would have agreed with you up until about a month ago. constant overheating, crashing and battery drain were all regular problems with my z5c especially since android 6 update. I finally got sick of it did a full factory reset and reinstall of all my apps and it's a different phone! battery lasts more than a full day. hardly any heat from it, no freezing or crashing. try it before you sell it, it's worth the hassle of a reset.

my otherhalf went from the z3c to the z5c, positives are the no flap over the charger, better camera and will get nougat, my only gripe is that it gets so hot.

I really liked the z3c but the flap over the charging port was a nightmare.

didn't think the z5c had finger print scanner, it was only on the z5? but she hasn't missed it if it is.

price on this one seems OK to me, and I'd pay that amount for it, although haven't Sony just announced an upgraded model?

The cheapest goodybag/gigabag is £5.

Buy a £5 gigabag use the 500MB of data then toss the sim.:p

What would you recommend buying? I've still got my z1 compact (bought it outright when it first came out) but was thinking about getting the z5 compact. Can't fault the camera with Sony products.

z3c was brilliant
I upgraded to 5c 3 months ago and it's **** all different
God knows what Sony have done with the snapdragon 810, but the z5c does a brilliant job of keeping your hands warm on a cold day
fingerprint scanner works 1 in 6 attempts
Id have z3c back in a heartbeat and save 24 months of exactly the sameness

p.s. if you have a garmin forerunner 230 you're going to love the endless time spent trying to get z5c to connect

Sorry but im not the person to ask as not that clued up on them, but I would consider another Z3c over this one.

Although, i might try a factory reset like the other post suggests before i commit to selling. If it wasnt for the issues, I would have no complaints at all on the z5c, infact issues aside, it would probably be hard to find a better compact phone.

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try. Cheers

Terrible phone don't get it I have it, have to live with it everyday. Gets hot all the time, pokemon go works sure but anything else in the background things stutter, and if you go away from the app and go back it pokemon it has to reload it, might be due to the 2GB ram. On warm days the camera refuses to start because device temperature is too high, who knows how people in actually hot countries use it day to day. Other than that it is fine, fingerprint sensor seems to work better nowadays main thing is you finger has to be sweat free, not making excuses just hopefully that helps those who have the phone.

The size of the Z5c appealed to me not sure theres any alternatives, thats the problem. I wanted a higher internal storage so the 32gb is good.

I've had the z3 compact for 2 years, brilliant phone in every aspect, just upgraded to a z5 full size, love the bigger screen, performance wise it's faster but not massive compared to the z3. Camera is definitely worth upgrading it's faster and more detailed, fingerprint scanner is fast, the USB charging port has no flap this is a bonus. Is worth upgrading I think Yes especially if you had a z3 for almost 2 years.

As for the the phone getting hot it does, but it's not major thing like people say it is. It's suppose to get hot when it's been used especially for gaming and YouTube, the phone dissipates the heat from the procceessor to back of phone.,this is normal that's how it cools, z5 has a twin heatsinik pipe this is more then double then the single heatsink that other manufacturers are using with the sd810. So stop panicking about heat every device Creates heat the more powerful chipsets and procceessor get the more cooling needed.

Now the X compact is available for £359 would that be a better buy

X compact is not really upgrade as it lost waterproofing and got Lower CPU also it's more chunky

I love my Z3c, it was a steal at £149. The flap thing doesn't bother me as I use the magnetic port each night.

not sure I agree with that, the phone gets so hot it warns you then shuts itself off, that can't be right.

I am going to factory reset as suggested above and see if that helps, otherwise going to replace it under warranty.

No i dont agree either.

It wouldnt be a problem if it only got hot, but when it causes it to crash or lag like it does, then it is a major problem. I hope the re-set makes a difference.

I'd be really interested to hear back from you guys to find out how you get on, I'm still considering this for the wife

There could be many reasons why this is getting hot, how many apps have been open, do you clean the cache regularly, it could be software issue causing it, reset phone that should solve the problem. I have a z5 no issues with no issues, 3 of my mates have z5 compacts since December 2015, non off them have had no issues

X compacts qualcomm 650 chipset is a upgrade to the SD 808 and 801 used in z3 and many other phones, and is only.%0.25 slower then a sd810 used in z5. So its a upgrade in sense. just without waterproofing. Sony New range have there ui optimised really well plus x compact has 3gb ram instead of z5c 2gb. So
the x compact will be just as fast as a z5 compact in everyday use.

I use the phone no different to how I used my Z3 compact. Sometimes, only with 2 mins of sunlight and no apps open and it misbehaves. The camera doesnt operate for long before overheating. And often it lags or crashes with just one app open. The problems have been present since the phone was brand new.

I am aware that many many people are reporting these issues, while some, like your mates appear to be lucky.

I am hoping when i get round to it, that the reset will cure it, or failing that, i will return it under warranty before selling it.

What ever the problem is, the fault is with Sony and as much as I loved my Z3c, this model has put me off sony.

Have faith if you have to send it to Sony, they will sort it under warranty, I had to send my z3 compact after 19 months, just suddenly switched of, they collected it from my house and replaced it with a new phone after 7 days. I can't fault the support or warranty, it didn't put me off Sony. sometimes things can wrong along as the support there you got nothing to lose. While my phone was in for repair I borrowed a Samsung s6, I hated using the s6, it's touch wiz overlay of Android was awful, battery would die halfway through the day, and it was slow, made me realise how good Sony phone were optimised.

I really want to get a z3c, seems like the perfect phone for me but they are £200 new on ebay. Would you still recommend it at £200 now? I am trying to decide between the z3c and Galaxy s5.

I dont know if it is a good price and not sure how the S5 compares, sorry.

What i can say, is apart from the fingerprint sensor and fiddly charging flap...the Z3C was better than my current Z5C in my personal opinion.

I personally would say that its worth the money. Its a cracking compact phone, waterproof, great camera, and what I like about them is that they support MHL, which means with the correct cable, which are a few £ on ebay, it allows you to connect your phone to the HDMI of a tv and view anything from the phone on big screen. I dont believe that many phones have this feature, which is certainly useful to me.

On only having had the Z3C and Z5C, i would say it is still worth £200 if it cant be found any cheaper of course!
