Just noticed that the Z5 is available on O2 refresh for £351.99.
Press show more tariffs
Purchase either 4 of the bottom tariffs with the £39.99 upfront fee.
Add to that 24 payments of £13.00 = £312.00 and you have £351.99.

All you need to do is call up when the phone arrives and say you want to cancel the airtime. Once you do this, you will be required to pay the remain amount so the 24 x £13 = £312.00 at once.

He's not exactly clear about it though. My point is, make sure you pay off phone first-even day or two before cancelling. People that have had issues with refresh, have had them by paying off at same time-or if you do it the wrong way round, theyll bill you for 24 months airtime.

just a shame Sony have not included it in the Android N Beta program
A reminder to anyone doing this to check that O2 have actually cancelled your airtime contract after you pay off the phone.

I was told that mine was all cancelled, and they had even cancelled my direct debit, but 6 months later I was denied a mortgage for having defaulted on loan repayments.

After paying for Experian and Equifax credit checks it turned out that O2 had indeed cancelled my direct debit, but hadn't closed the account. So every month counted as a missed payment until the 6 month mark when it became a default/delinquent account.

It took a few weeks for O2 to cancel the account and several phone calls before they refunded my credit check costs. I then had to chase them to make a correction to my credit file to have the default removed. They said just to leave it and the account would show as closed but after speaking to my mortgage provider they told me it would show as MY fault on credit checks and hence still affect my ability to get credit for x years.

I'm not saying don't do this - I've done it a couple of times myself but DO call them after a month to check that the account is properly closed.
Can't find a Z5 on the site?

Do you mean the Z5 compact?
I'm confused. Are you saying you can cancel the 24 month airtime contract? Surely they'd charge you the remaining months?

Go on o2 site, click shop then in the search bar that says: Already know what you want? type z5 and it should come up first.

Holy ****. That sounds like a nightmare. Hope you managed to sort it out. I've done the refresh deal myself without any problems but will steer clear in the future. Too much risk and hassle.
Ok, went with the voda z3c for £170 though. The plastic build on this put me off and the improvements don't seem worthy of £130

You need to click onto the little link that says "more details" and the £13 relates to the "monthly device payment" which is what you would have to pay off after you cancel that "airtime" side of the deal..

When you say click on 'more details' is that on the page from the main OP's link or from the link that I was referencing posted by Musm?

Once the device has been paid off fully, they can unlock the device for free with o2. Just go on the live chat or speak on the phone.

Umm. I told myself. I did it in 2 days.
Day 1 get phone, pay it off, request unlock
Day 2 wait / cancel airtime
Day 3 phone unlocked

O2 are good. Just don't listen to them

I called up, did it in one call. Paid off phone and requested unlock,
Do yourself a favour. Make one outbound and inbound call on the phone when you get it.
