A great retailer. Firstly, the item was a really good price.
Secondly, the delivery was exact. Thirdly the follow up that showed me how to activate my 5 year guarantee was both emailed and texted to me to ensure I didn't miss out. Overall I rate them 10/10 and highly recommend them. Thank you RGB direct

Would buy a Sony over LG OLED personally unless you really need pc gaming features.

    Good price.

would Richer Sounds price match this ?
    sotv's avatar
    sotv Author
Should do, but only available through telesales richersounds.com/son…tml

They'll probably try to wangle their way out of doing it in my experience, But RGB are authorised Sony stockists and the 5 year warranty is with Sony directly, so difficult to see how they could. (edited)

Good price for the size too. Stuck though on whether to go for a smaller size for the similarly price LG G26 with its Evo display. Thoughts?

I've been holding out for the 65" G2 too and possibly the Panasonic 1000 or 1500LZ but can't see either dropping to this price, so may have to cave in for this one

Are the Sony OLED TVs any less reflective compared to LG?

Yes. It has a matte finish I believe compared to LG's glossy.

Does anyone know the difference between the XR65A75A and the XR65A80K? It looks like the only difference is an extra 10W audio output for the A80K but that's it?
    AJM117's avatar
    AJM117
I think the A75k has a cheaper tv design and the audio is not as good as the A80k

    nishington
Thanks! Just noticed on Sony site that the A80J is more expensive than that A80K. Hardly anything different apart from the K has motion clarity. Surely that's software based though? ** Edit: found a load of things on this if anyone is interested let me know will forward the links on. (edited)

A80J is the 2021 model, whereas the A80K is the 2022, think it would be end of line stock if you wanted the 80J version over this so would need to check with Sony about the 5 year warranty on it if you wanted to buy that one instead

Hmm bought A90J 65inch for £1770 from Sony on black Friday.. haven't got the delivery yet. Very good price for this TV not sure extra £400 is justified for A90J..I guess heat sink is the only difference and may be audio output of 60watts. If i haven't bought it I would go with this TV for sure (edited)
    AJ10's avatar
    AJ10
Stick with the A90J. This uses a semi-matte or matte panel whereas the A90J uses a glossy which is much preferred.

I have already purchased this model and Richer Sounds honoured their 'price beat' pledge by matching this RGB deal and then beating it by another £20.
A nice refund on the way!

So basically get it from Richer Sounds, it will be £20 cheaper with an extra years warranty
  20. Why_so_serious's avatar
    Why_so_serious
The warranty isn't all that from RS. I don't get why everyone keeps banging on about their warranty.
It deteriorates in value every year you have it. So the 6th year is almost worthless. They won't spend money fixing it in the 6th year... They'll give you a puny refund and call it a day but at point of sale they make it sound like it's a precious extra year.
Some people on here have also had problems getting them to honour warranty.
Costco will give you a full refund on the last day of 5 year warranty. (Worst case scenario)
    theshabster's avatar
    theshabster
I agree, but I suppose getting something back in the 6th year is better than nothing IF you have a failure between years 5 & 6. For years 1-5 I'd rather buy from JL or Costco.
The main thing that puts me off Costco is that, to the best of my knowledge, you need to maintain an active membership throughout the warranty period to keep the warranty valid. That's fine if you pay for a membership regardless, but if you don't, you're effectively paying an annual fee for the extended warranty. (edited)

Anyone think this will get any cheaper in 2023 when they release a new model? Or will this be the best price? I was hoping it would drop to £1200.

It's probably not the greatest choice for a bright room, the Samsung S95B QD-OLED is a good alternative.

So I’m torn between this or the 65A84KU curry’s version or the LG C2. I have a ps5 and the curry’s salesman told me the Sony is better for gaming…… can any tech heads advise?
    Pindi's avatar
    Pindi
The LG C2 is definitely the better gaming TV.

Why didn't you just pick up the phone and call them?

Find this a lot nowadays moreso at work. Important info is needed, passed on "I'll email them"
When there was no email we had to pick up the phone (then telex or fax the orders info etc over!)
Find the human mindset..(maybe a better term) has changed over the last 20years.
I have a client that when you call she gets in a huff and says can you email me as she 99% ever available on the phone....yet I'm on the phone talking to her .

Anyway Monday morning hungover rant complete.

    Have a good day.
