Sound Of Vinyl Summer Sale - Some bargains to be had

The seemingly twice yearly Sound Of Vinyl sale has it's summer iteration. Some excellent bargains to be had.

My personal shopping list this time was:

1 x Rihanna - Studio Album Vinyl Box (Vinyl Box Set) £100.00
1 x Beastie Boys - Check Your Head (Double Vinyl LP) £15.00
1 x Black Eyed Peas - Elephunk (Double Vinyl LP) £10.00
1 x Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole (Double Vinyl LP) £15.00
1 x Gary Moore - Run For Cover (Vinyl LP) £10.00
1 x Gary Moore - Wild Frontier (Vinyl LP) £10.00
plus £6.95 delivery (when all items in stock)

I checked them all against Amazon UK price history and most are a real bargain, e.g. the Rihanna box set is still £250+ there.

Lots of titles, something for everyone (who plays records).

Pressing plants double their prices because they have a backlog of MOR bollox to knock out for nouveau hipsters aka the new yuppies.I've got a 25-year old collection that's way cooler than 90% of what's on that site. Because I actually like music. But I can hardly afford new vinyl these days. Because of you cu4ts. The internet needs the plug pulling - here is proof that society has got worse.

£100 quid for some Rihanna vinyls! wtf
Thank you for this! Just ordered "Cheshire Cat" by blink-182 for £13.95 including P&P! I paid £24 for "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket" just a little over a week ago! It's £10 on there!
Bargain for DJ Shadows Endtroducing box set. Never seen it cheaper than £85 and just paid £40 for it, bargain!. The Maccabees Given to the Wild is also a top album and well worth £15. Cheers op!
Great deal. Unfortunately shipping outside the UK is very expensive with this shop. €50 for a single boxset (€85 for 2 boxsets).

See, I know the name but I didn't know if I would like it. So I left it out this time. £167 even on payday is enough to spend

I sympathise. I can kick my arse that I didn't buy more before vinyl - not vinyls - before they became the hipster must have. Still, prices will drop again once the novelty wears off and people realise that all those Crossley turntables were a waste of money.
Great deal, just make sure your record player is region free before purchasing!

Seemingly a significant number of people buying vinyl don't even own a turntable and for those that do a lot of stuff never gets played.

I used to own over a thousand albums and sold them for a decent price at the time as there was a lot of 70s fusion and jazz.
I wonder how much those would sell for these days!

Quite alot I'd imagine... I'm at the other end of the scale... Although mid 40's as soon as I could I bought a CD player and built my CD collection. Then by the late 90's I was coverting them all to MP3... I never sold my CD's or the few vinyls I did have though. But now I have some half decent equipment and speakers I much enjoy playing a vinyl. Over the last 18mths I've bought around 300 vinyls, some new but most are original, quality varies but for an excellent condition vinyl/sleeve, jazz funk from the late 70's or 80's I'd pay around £10-15. In some cases I'm buying original vinyls where I already have the original CD (are you aware of the Mastercuts compilation series from the 90's)... I still want the CD for digital quality, but the sleeves, holding the vinyl and hearing it's warmth is far more enjoyable.

Quite a lot of them were worth £10 20 years ago when I sold them so curious what they'd go for now.

Have a look on Discogs.com as that will give you an idea of what they would now buy/sell for. You can add your whole collection there as well (which is a bit of an eye opener)

Thanks. It's history really so only mildly curious. There must be a few of them that are worth a bit I amgine.
I have about 27 records after starting collecting the past year, very tempted by the Bon Jovi set at £200. I've messaged Amazon about a price match just in case I can get it from them
