Foxconn design and build the Bravias for Sony. Sony haven't made them for a couple of years now. And this TV was probably made in Poland by Philips when they were Philips as it's nearly 4 years old

teerex

Well, since you mentioned it, it annoys me when people can't tell the difference between "there" & "their" lol

Without a shadow of a doubt the best tv I have ever owned.....Sorry I sold it but a house move pretty much forced it. M&S sold these off at £599 yes £599 about 2 and 1/2 years ago absolute bargain. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/philips-56pfl9954-56-inch-21-9-cinema-lcd-tv-1080p-599-99-5-year-warranty-free-delivery-894407

Errr, no. This TV is designed by TPV in China, and built in China. Show me a Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba or Sharp -- for £1000 -- that is designed and built in China. £110, I'd agree with you.

I'm not a footy guy luckily. How is it for gaming & movies? can it also handle movies (i.e MKV) from USB? I promissed my wife no more gadgets until I buy a house first??

nictry

I have this TV (bought end of last year) and it is a great TV but if you watch a lot of sport beware that being an LED backlit that it does suffer from banding effects which for football etc. can be quite annoying if you notice it.

montana78

that works out better for me as I'm more closer to PRC in essex then Sound & Vision in Leeds

Very good price, normally its hard to find LCD Screen with 100Hz at this price. My only reservation is that it has no SCART connections as I do have a video (I guess could do a SCART to HDMI connector) but apart from them seems like a brilliant price.

As well as being completely ridiculous, it isn't even a good deal. Why would anyone vote hot? Freezing cold.

fas702

I'm buying four - as wallpaper for my living room.....having a full-blown projector screen is so last year! And yes...I am MINTED.

momo_007

Mehh Rip off, id rather build a pc with ATI eyefinity running 6 HD projectors giving you an effective resolution of 5,760 x 2,160. It would still only cost you a fraction of the cost, but you would need one seriously big wall to display it on. lol

OO7

Or, just forget about the projector and cake.

"Please note there are extra charges included with this screen please call our sales team for details" I take it they mean medical bills when you default on your payments and they send the boys round.

there is a guy around the corner from me that has something like this, mounted on the wall of his lounge in his 3 bed'd semi. His house is opposite a 't' junction and, as you stop to give way, the tv is clearly visible through his lounge window . . . . . all the locals call it the 'drive in', lol. each to their own and I'm sure it's a good deal. mjswainwright

Panasonic Guarantee means very little! I bought a Panny product from S&V that was returned 4 times within 1st year. Panasonic said I had to send to approved repairer who didn't repair properly. They then said I had tampered with it so my so called warranty was void. Be very careful with S&V - They are liars!!

yaron

How much customer service one needs ? Just go and pick it up The rest you can take up with Panasonic 5 yr guarantee

mjswainwright

Great telly but if you ever need to go back to Sound and Vision they have the worst customer service on the planet IMHO!

What the hell are you talking about. Everyone of my comments was about next year and you were the only person to mention two months. And that was a whole day after everyone one of my previous comments. No one quoted me as mentioning two months. Check the times of my edit. Christ can people just stop putting words into my mouth. Flipping idiot

R.O.N.N.I.E

You originally wrote a few months but I see you have edited your post to say next year, which is not suprising as the industry has been doing that for the last 30 years. Someone has quoted your uneditted version before you start denying what you originally wrote, as I noticed you have also done that in this thread.

anh_duong

what the hell are you talking about? 3d tv and monitors have been available on sale for a while now: http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/10/worlds-first-46-inch-stereoscopic-3d-tv-from-hyundai-on-sale-in/ http://www.shinyhardware.co.uk/prods/showprod.asp?pid=10199 http://prices.cnet.co.uk/0,39100441,74118205,00.htm http://www.shop.bt.com/products/samsung-22--w-sm2233rz-3d-monitor---add-bundle-below-5JP9.html http://hdtvorg.co.uk/news/articles/2008112901.htm oh btw where are you getting this 2 months number from because all my comments refer to next year. i usually vouch for sony, but this year, they flopped up with the w5500 as the successor to the w4500. No offence, its still a good tv, but samsung UE40B7020 and the new panasonic TX-P42G10 has an edge. PS: another review of this is here: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Sony-KDL40W5500/Conclusion.htm

Although there has been individual clouding issues with this model - this is just the minority, also the previous models the 40W4000 and the 40W4500 have also been hit with 'clouding' issues yet the majority of reviews have nothing but praise for the tv's just like this. Im no expert but as to say which is better this or the W4500 but as this is the newer model its a great price
