Free entry for everyone before the school holidays start, It's under new ownership & that's why they're doing this offer! ( hopefully they've got better staff now )
Get dealGet deal

You can also get a family pass for £5 that gets 2 adults and unlimited kids in during the summer holidays

And hopefully new owners will have out new steps in place to stop that happening. Funny how we give companies second chances look at the tumble dryer fiasco but someone tries to actually change something with animals and it all kicks off.

But it's all the same staff, the ones that let animals starve to death.

under new ownership so support it I say instead of assuming it will be as it was before.

went here once and one of the tiger keepers was aggravating the tiger ,my wife was about to say "what on earth are doing".

I live 5 minutes away, went with my girlfriend and nephew a couple of weeks ago. It is completely free entry, I don't know why people are saying otherwise. The only things you could pay for are extras, such as a map of the park or a wristband that lets you feed the animals.

Too far from London :( Heat from me anyway :)

I don't understand why one of you don't just pick up the phone and call them? Surely that would answer all the questions and queries you have?!

We went there just after Christmas and the place is like a building site. It's a real mess and needs a lot of work. Signs were non-existent, some of the enclosures smelt so bad I felt sorry for the animals, the paths are lethal in places and the hand rails are rotting etc. The latter is one of the things the council has been on at them about. We had to pay £6 to get in when we went which wasn't too bad but the place needs a lot of work to get it as good as it was 4 years ago.

when I go to the website I didnt see anything free .how can I get in there for free?can I feed the animal with my own food??thanks

It is free every winter - here's a link to an early hot deals UK post - HERE Its the same each winter

its not now as it had over 20k signatures on a petition, Also its never been completely free its £15.50 per adult with up to 4 children free This is a special deal due to it being saved from closure.

You can also get these vouchers on wish FM website . 2 adults and 2 kids for £15 and can be used bank holidays

Hi just wondering if you got a chance to try this? or if anyone gave you any information because I really want to use this voucher for me and my boyfriend but not sure if we'll get turned away!

Did you get your voucher via this wire fm site? I was scared in case it was a scam with it being so cheap? thanks

I'm guessing that 2 adults can use use the voucher with no children? Please correct if i'm wrong.

They have now increased it to £5 minimum donation per person. The reduced price of £1 was for people who can not afford the full price but lots of people have just out £1 and took the mick and they can't run on that as it costs £8220 to run per day. But £5 is still a lot cheaper than £15.50 for an adult and £9 for a child.

When did that start?

Min donation is £5 till date in February

Shame the price goes up just before half term.

its not a massive zoo like the one at chester but its still a really fun day out as its a lot more interactive since you can join in on things like the giraffe feeding. went a year or so ago when they had a buy one get one free entry during the summer.

they usually do it every year, they just like a donation in the chairty boxes. great day if you wrap up!

Entry normally costs around £13.50. Dalton zoo is well worth a visit. Dalton is on the outsirks of Barrow in furness and close to ulverston. Kids love this zoo.

This is a great place to visit. I've always been more than willing to pay for entry in the past and even sponsored a giraffe there once upon a time. This simply has to be HOT.

We go up at least once a year, fantastic place for the animals and visitors. I love hand feeding the lemurs and giraffes.

full price admission is usually about £13 so this is an ace deal, i only live down the road too :-) we can just go for a walk feed the animals and then go home again! its the only thing we have near us in this part of cumbria. anything else involves long car journeys

Off on Sunday - looking forward to the standoff with the emus as usual.

Great zoo - really pushchair friendly - would especially recommend to younger kids, as you can get around the whole place in a day unlike Chester where you end up racing round to try to see everything. We usually go at least once a year.

Great day out, well worth a visit

love this place and if you were any closer to the animals you would be classed as family i love chester zoo but its one of those where i want to see each and every animal, have time to spend with the fam as well as make the most out of the day .. which is something thats restricted. southlakes is where you have time for everything

They usually have another offer when the free entrance is over. If you pop down to the Co-Op in Dalton and get a receipt you will get half price entrance if you show it when you pay. The carpark isnt the biggest, so they have an overflow which is a field and it gets rather boggy if it rains so best to go early to make sure you get a space on the main carpark. You can park in Dalton and walk up but its a good walk up a hill and over the carriageway to get there.

so worth it

We're an hour away and love this place. We take a packed lunch and then add some chips however the restaurant prices are good anyway! I also think the shop is reasonably priced, if you think that's dear you should try Blackpool Zoo! I don't think the place is expensive even when we pay to go.

sounds fab, but my geography not being all that great thought cumbria was in cornwall so thought would aa route plan it see if it was doable from portsmouth but sadly not :( Distance: 328.0 miles (show in km) Time: 5 hr 47 min dont think my 4 kids could tolerate that, its bad enough the 4 hr journey to visit family in norfolk once a year!!

Expired? Is it the 13th already?

while I do agree with the point you make "not everyone checks this every day ", If this was applied site wide we would be swamped by tesco offers every day,) oh we are already! :D will leave to mods to decide how frequently a live deal should be reposted

Still a nice reminder though, not everyone checks this every day and the idea of the site is to spread the wealth after all.

posted a couple of times already ! to name but a few

Love this place, I thought it was worth every penny we spent to get in so free is great! we loved getting up close and personal with the penguins.

it actually £15 pounds for adults! well worth a visit! we're planning ours now

This was posted in November I think when they first made it free for the coming few months. Still hot, though they don’t have Santa’s grotto and the reindeer now. I am local to the zoo and it’s worth a visit, especially for free when it’s normally about £12 for adults.

This is great we went on monday on our way home from staying in Barrow and we thoroughy enjoyed it my daughter was a bit frightened by the geese that tried to bite her Daddy unfortunately there was only one way past as the other was closed due to ice on the bridge definately recommend x

Ah thanks, I don't tend to look back more than a month as things change but apologies to the earlier poster. There's no less happening than at high season so far as I can tell but it's flippin' cold up there at the mo!

Thanks Op, voted hot. (FYI. It was posted a couple of months back - but, as you say, no harm in having a reminder. Hopefully we'll get a few days of half decent weather for making the trip down to the park.)
