I am a basketball addict (i am lithuanian, so duh) and i have an official Spalding genuine leather NBA game ball, Spalding TF1000 Euroleague ball and Wilson Evolution so im pretty experienced in choosing the best basketballs. Spalding NBA Silver is great for both indoor and outdoor use but ONLY for kids (size 5). It is very similar to the Spalding TF 150 that my kids have and it is very durable. However, the touch is kinda hard. For adults, size 7, the Nike Dominate (priced around the same) would be a way better option due to the softness of the rubber - i have two of them and play almost daily in summer, great quality. DO NOT buy a synthetic leather basketball and use it outdoors - it will wear off easily unless you are going to use it once a month. There are no good universal basketballs out there so the best option is to have a Nike Dominate for outdoors and, say, a Wilson Evolution (excellent price/performance/quality ratio) for indoors.

Amazon reviews from incompetents proliferate...

Ball to big to fit in my mouth ..1star.

Ball wasn't round enough
Ball did not fit through my letterbox & was hard to wrap up for a present.
Ball smelt of rubber / plastic. ..returned.
Ball does not represent good value for money as it is mostly air.
Ball was morose & silent throughout my tenure shipwrecked when my delivery service plane went down on a desert island ..thankfully the Wilson brand of ball was a lot more chatty & pleasant company.

Small percentage of negative reviews tbf, which you will find on almost every product sold on Amazon, no matter how well made.

For reference, Size 5 is kids (U13) and Size 7 is adults.
this one is better than any of the other rubber ones. however do not buy rubber ball. get synthetic leather one from ebay: baden, wilson, spalding.
Bought one few days ago for 12.99
Will be good for outdoor use for sure
Good value for money

Amazon review is as bad as weather forecast those days

We only use Molten balls. Honestly a better ball
Seeing that basketball takes me back to a time when I used to jump for fun, rather than every time I dare check my bank balance at a cash point.

Hi Any links to the nike one?
Why on earth is this hot? Much better off with a synthetic ball from Decathlon.

Mate, what age would you say 5 is suitable for? seen 3 listed allot for kids too - need one for a 7year old
Fior a 7 year old - I'd probably say size 5.

A little late on the reply, but size 5 is perfect for kids starting 4 years old and then up to 12-13 (im not sure on when they switch to size 7).My son is 7 as well, we use the Spalding TF150, i may get him a TF250 for indoor use. The kids have to work on their shooting form first, a less slippery ball such as the tf150 or the spalding nba silver is good for that imo.

Thank you for response. I have always wondered about talent for Lithuanians and basketball? Is it the height of people? Are the countries neighbouring you also very good at basketball? I find these things fascinating like baseball being national sport in Venezuela (and all other countries around are football mad).

No, there are plenty of tall people in UK as well. Its about the inner passion, you are basically born in an environment where the game is almost a religion so you do not have a lot of choice, everyone talks about it, everyone knows how to play it, there are a ton of basketball schools, a lot of great indoor and outdoor basketball courts in literally every city. Its a sport that unites the country, we fought independence with it. Meanwhile our national football stadium looks like a stadium from a 8th tier English football league. You cannot be good at everything lol, especially in a country that small.
