Almost perfect score with 4.9 stars (avoiding Challenge - cheap for a reason - almost played out a scene that could of came out of Hostel with lawnmower before it died after two months)

Ordered and should make short work of the hedge with its extra length and width :whistling:

Just what I need to trim the Beard, I mean bush... well you know what I mean...

 if you know what I mean

Trouble with reviews is most people review something they wanted to buy in the first place - so as long as it works ok, they usually give it 4 or 5 stars. They delude themselves into thinking a product is better than it actually is, mainly because they bought it - and wouldn't like to question their own judgement. The odd review has 0 or 1 stars, but that's when the thing broke out of the box or soon afterwards

Wouldn't surprise me if Argos review their own stock - because the last thing I bought with a 5* custome rating was rubbish and had to be returned. Either people are very easily pleased or only a sub-set of customers review in the first place .... that is those either ecstatic with their purchase - or those who hate it, the rest think it's ok, but nothing to write home about.

great but no stock anywhere around me :-[ (Cambs)

May get one of these, I trim the lady next doors bush quite often & I think the length & width will help no end!

I used to work for spear and jackson, and this same made in rubbish as challenge brand bought from china and stuck a spear and jackson badge on, it will trim and shape privets small twigs but no use for heavy work.

bought this, after 2 weekends of use, stopped working, wouldn't cut anything. I didnt cut anything thick, well below the limit. luckily, it comes with a 2 year warranty if yours lasts that long. keep the box and the receipt but I think Bosch is a better make. not a bad price, but don't think that it's going to last!

Great hedge trimer..

Beware of SPEAR & JACKSON products sold by Argos , these are made under licence using a different price quality from the original. They are made to last usually not much beyond the guaranteed period. When you approach SPEAR & JACKSON for a spare part they would not want to know and refer you to Argos and when you go to Argos they say SORRY, nothing that they can do as they don't do spare parts. Good bye as the warranty period has expired. Moreover I had a Spear and Jackson mini grass trimmer from Argos for a tiny small patch of grass measuring 6m x 3 m, the motor burnt out after two summers with little use. I was shocked how little use I had of it as I could not have used it much more than 10 times.

The Spear & Jackson hedge trimmer in the Catalogue is almost identical in design to the "Challenge Extreme" trimmer directly above it on the page. The plastic mouldings are the same, but the power output & blade length are different.
I believe this would be a Made in China product from the same factory that does the Challenge products. Challenge products are often VERY poor in my experience.
