The Spear and Jackson 24V cordless lawnmower and grass trimmer set includes two 4.0Ah batteries and a 1-hour fast charger allowing charging of one battery while using the other - allowing you to mow any sized lawn. The brushless motor and lithium cells provide ultimate power and runtime. Includes fast charger and 2 batteries.

A built-in rear roller that helps you achieve a precise, professional striped finish on your lawn. With a 35L grass collection hybrid bag. The collection bag has a grass full indicator, which will tell you when you need to stop and empty it.

Easy cut height adjustment: quickly change the cutting height to suit your lawn with the central cut height adjustment. There are 5 cut heights on this mower, with a cut height range from 2.2cm-6.2cm for both healthy and hard wearing lawns to long, damp grass and uneven lawns.

The 25cm Trimmer will allow you to edge, trim and even reach under benches. The built-in flower guard ensures you can trim grass while protecting your flowers, shrubs and trees. For extra peace of mind Spear & Jackson offer a 3-year guarantee on all Garden Power products.

Looks like a great bit of kit though I'm not a fan of the fabric bag.

Anyone know if these batteries are interchangeable with any other brand?

Not that I know of, but I think they're new to the Li-ion battery game. They look similar to Worx, but I have the S & J Pole Trimmer and the metal pins look different. Plus S & J are (claiming?) 24V, whereas the rest are mostly 18/20V aren't they?

Still, having said that, I'd be delighted if they were compatible, or someone produced an adaptor, as I've now been sucked into S & J world as well as Worx. And Soverign. And I do like the look of some of the Einhell tools.
According to the reviews these seem like decent lawnmowers but worth noting that Argos license the Spear & Jackson name to use on their own brand products. Spear & Jackson don't make lawnmowers !
Bought this just over a month ago for £200, which is annoying (although had some vouchers that were expiring and they had the voucher offer at the time - plus my new lawn seriously needed mowing ). Also, they are out of stock everywhere near me now anyway so sort of glad i picked one up.

Really nice bit of kit. The battery lasts about 30 mins (with the mower - longer with the strimmer) but you get two batteries so an hour of mowing time. I can do my mowing and a bit of strimming without having to recharge on an approx 35 x 35 foot lawn. It has a nice battery level indicator on the battery and on the handle of the mower. Feels good to use and seems pretty well made.

3 year warranty as well.

I assume a month is more than 30 days? You could have re-bought at the cheaper price and returned the new one on the old reciept if it was within 30 days.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. Seems a bit of a risk for S & J then to gamble their reputation and good name on some own brand Argos stuff. It also puts me off buying a little too.

Been going on for a while it seems:-

I know it goes on in all sectors but it seems a very underhand way of doing business. In the details section they really imply that this is a Spear & Jackson product with a heritage dating back hundreds of years instead of an own brand product knocked out cheaply in China!

Well all brands have manufacturing in China so I wouldn't worry about that much, I would be more worried about finding batteries for this thing in 3 years time assuming it lives past it's warranty

That is a good point. I think if the batteries live for 3 years and the mover hasn't packed in then it's not too bad. I've had mowers that haven't lasted that long before so at £50 odd quid a year I could live with that

No, over 30 days. Also used it. Also no stock near me and out of stock for delivery.

Another thing to note is that usually the batteries are only in warranty for 1 year, now there's no reason why they should go bad within the 3 years but still worth considering where you might get replacements if things do go wrong.

Most of the Bosch range of mowers are still manufactured in the uk but anyway it's the deceitful way that Argos markets these products, not the made in China bit, that I have an issue with.

Fair enough. Just double checking for you. For future reference, the fact that it's used doesn't matter. If you WERE within the 30 days return period still, you could have bought a new one for £160 now and then instantly returned that new unused one with your old receipt/invoice email for £200, which would effectively mean you'd be paying £160/getting £40 back for your old one.
