Says RRP £24.99 on the shelf label. I thought Spear & Jackson only made gardening items - though the tagged label says "manufactured under licence" - wonder if Home Bargains make some items under their name?

Picture from Forge Retail Park, Parkhead, Glasgow tonight:3208584.jpgThere were smaller Spear & Jackson Select "bottle shaped" vacuum flasks, 500ml £4.99 or 750ml £6.99"Up to 12 Hours Hot Or Cold Storage/304 Stainless Steel/Screw Close Lid/Double Wall Vacuum Insulation".

Weirdly there was a no-name that looked pretty identical next to them, slightly cheaper, which you can kinda see on the left - slightly thinner black seal rim on those, though.

Same store:3208584.jpgOnly took pictures because my brother-in-law is looking for some for work

For the chocoholics, there's also these Daniel's Delights bars (RRP £2.99), 89p. Creamy Salt Caramel, Dark Chilli With A Hint Of Lime, Mississippi Mud Pie, Chocolate Tickle, Lumpy Road and Honeycomb Crunch (same store as above). Seem to be 100g bars. (Edit: Oops, actually it's 80g).37391388-whG9o.jpg

Yes spear & Jackson seem to have gone down hill lately, has the brand name been sold on

The brand is split in two as far as I'm aware. There's the original S and J who continue to manufacture quality equipment. Then there's the tat made 'under licence' for the likes of Argos, the latter have nothing at all to do with S and J, other than the brand name.

Another disappointing sellout to China.
Get a similar lookimg Thermos flask instead. Keeps my coffee hot for over 6 years now.
Junk
still nothing like a flask with glass vacuum liner for me.

Still hot after ten years in the flask? That's really impressive...
Put it towards a Stanley flask, simply the best.

That's right 6 years not 10. I keep it on the hob though.

Oh, that's disappointing. Brings to mind the Currys "JVC TV" I saw advertised last night (and my brother-in-law bought for my sister last Xmas - he thought he was getting a Japanese bargain - didn't have the heart to tell him, in the UK, it's a rebadge. Think genuine Victor Company Of Japan products still exist in their homeland, though).

It is naughty, makes me feel like I'm being cheated out of money and trust when manufacturers do this.

Thankfully there are some original and emerging tech companies in China who are actually making some top notch equipment.

Daft idea because if you buy something from argos /Home Bargains and it's rubbish you will inevitably avoid buying that brand again

Indeed. I bought a 'Spear & Jackson' strimmer from Artoss several years ago. It was quite poor, when the clutch broke on the thing I had misplaced the relevant paperwork. I got in touch with S&J customer support who informed me in no uncertain terms the unit was nothing to do with them, that it had been made under licence for Home Retail Group (used to own Artoss), and they were not responsible for warranty claims. Or anything else to do with it for that matter!

A few years later, stupidly, in hindsight. I bought a S&J flask. If you want to keep liquids the same temperature as the environment it is in, then this is the flask for you!
