Spec Ops for £4.99 on Steam.
An excellent price for an excellent game.

Cheapest I've ever seen it.
Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw from Zero Punctuation voted this his game of the year, and that is very high praise!

pec Ops: The Line is a new original title from 2K Games that features provocative and gripping Third-Person modern military Shooter gameplay designed to challenge players' morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting human life must be made. Features include, a gripping, storyline reminiscent of Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness but set in a ruined Dubai, tactical squad-based Delta Force gameplay throughout a horizontally and vertically oriented world, devastating sandstorms which can be used in combat, a variety of multiplayer modes and maps, and deep support featuring two factions.

Game of the year? Hardly. It's a generic shooter with a half decent story. Worth a fiver though.

it's a better deal from this post if you don't mind finding an American address.

An odd one, this. Bought it for about three quid in a sale a couple months back. All the reviews/features about it raved about how it makes you think about the violence you're committing, and it does have it's moments that wrench at you, but for the most part it really is just another generic chest-height wall shooter. The end has a nice twist, but it's not an original twist by any means.

It's also very short. I started playing it one evening and finished it the next on Normal (and that included a few deaths).

But, for this price (or the Amazon.com price, even better), you can't complain.

Steam is a place to buy PC (and a few Mac) games which are downloaded over the internet to your computer.
They have amazing sales on a few times a year where you can pick up excellent bargains - typically 75% off games which are more than a year old.

However, they also have games on offer a couple of times a week, and this is one of those weekly specials.
If you have a PC and are interested in playing games on it, then I can highly recommend a game called Portal, which is fantastic for people who are just starting playing games. If it's something you're interested in, set up a Steam account using the link above, and send me a PM and I'll send you a copy of Portal to start off your collection..

    Have fun playing it!

$7.49 (4.67 gbp) on Amazon US. $2.49 for those that have a voucher for buying a game in 2012.

The story is much better than most shooters, and the gameplay is decent. difficulty can get pretty tough but I'd say with the story, good graphics and solid gameplay its worth a look at full price and definitely a must at this price

The greater emphasis on single-player mode than with the CoD series seems to be the decisive factor from what I've read/seen.

Still a very generic shooter with lots of convenient chest-high walls to cover behind as mentioned already but the story is worth it for the fiver alone.

I'd have to agree. Hungrily got this on PC when it was cheap due to the reviews. However didn't really see where all these good bits were.

I think 99% of the people who play an FPS for the storyline are going to be sorely disappointed, a couple have had a good plot but they are the exception, the vast majority are just run and gun with the focus on the MP potential, which is where the hours are.

Buying an FPS for the storyline is like buying a book for the pictures, it works in some cases but mostly if you want a storyline read a book, if you want bright flashy graphics and loud noises buy a video game.

I agree with the above, not quite sure what everyone saw in this, although it is good, and looks decent in 3D , it is not great, I have played many better games. And the story might be heart wrenching for some Americans or over emotional people in general. But it's nothing I haven't seen before. Worth a fiver though, but not much more.

    Dont buy this.

The comments on this page are wise and true especially "so, so very ordinary. read all the great reviews and played it for hours waiting for the good bits to happen. roll credits." Sounds so dismissive but this comment is spot on.

The gameplay will frustate you; entire cover system based on one button thats shared by melee AND sprint?!? What were they thinking? You must sit and wait for 20 enemys to spawn, shooting the men marked in red and not your allies who are wearing the exact same uniform (sometimes on the other side of the room because the ai is bugged) and then move on when you get the audio cue. If u want to speed things along and go rambo you cant and the game will punish you for rushing. Its generic and boring and at the same time frustrating.

If you want excellent story and pacing play bioshock or metro 2033. If you want fast shooting action, play some call of duty. Despite the hate some of the story campaigns (cod4 and cod2) are rather excellent and the gun and gameplay mechanics will never frustrate. Borderland 2 is pretty good if you like collecting the best weapons and showing them off to your buddys. Like exploration and open world then fallout 3 is your poison.

Specs ops has some wonderful set pieces with haunting and beautiful moments in equal measure but with the terrible gameplay the immersion is lost and you cant help but loathe what your playing and wish for the next cut-scene. Save yourself a fiver and dont buy this, donate the money to your favorite "lets play" broadcaster on youtube for an edited version or just to watch them rage

Thank you for your offer. I've only just got into Xbox lol and I doubt my laptop could handle online gaming. At least i know what it is now though.
