Great exclusive exchange rates plus you get a free £5 voucher to spend on anything in store (has to be used on the day) there are no terms stating minimum spend on the voucher itself and I was allowed to use it against sale items!!

My purchase was reduced to £15 in the 70%off sale and the voucher was valid against this bringing my total down to £10

Good deal if you shop there anyway

If you or anyone is close to central London - namely Victoria. Try Change-link http://change-link.com/exchange-rates/
I havent found anyone who has beaten there rates..

not voting hot or cold either way. Just offering an alternative and better rate for those who are nearby!

ICICI Bank Tourist Rate: 1.6392 - No £5 deal so its still a hot from me, it will be an interesting thread as the Dollar seems to be on the up. Or should I say I hope it still keeps on going up..." Bring back the $2 to the £ again"

Cold I afraid -

600 AED

BEST FOREIGN EXCHANGE.COM - £99.36 ExRate - 6.039
Debenhams - £103.9 ExRate - 5.7747

heat from me, 1.195euro to the pound, fantastic!

it states free £5 if you take out their travel insurance ??

Exchanged some money today at Debenhams. Good rate and £5 voucher (valid until 17th) but took me ages to find something to use it on! Concessions, designers, fragrance and beauty not 'in the promo'!!!! Still very good rate though.

I used best forgeign exchange this week best around good prices

Any ideas who has the best rate for polish zloty?

its a good dollar rate if you dont live in London and you want cash over the counter

One of the best companies for transfer and exchange is transferwise.com. If you go through quidco you get £5.00 aswell.

It's only transfer from bank to bank.

Agreed. Use it all the time. Saved me 1000s.

So am I wrong about it being spam.

this deal is about getting foreign currency, does transferwise allow me to A. beat the debenhams rate and B allow me to beat my clarity rate

Not particularly good for Yen

I've always got the best rate via affiliate.travelfx.co.uk/Bes…php which seems to be better than going straight via travelex. Good for home delivery free for 500 quids worth. I just checked Turkish lira and it's better than debenhams.

Oh my post went into moderation. Google bestpricepromise I always get the highest rate from them regardless og which currency I'm buying. It's travel fx but gives a better rate.

I've been using ruislipcurrency.co.uk/ for years, they've never been beaten on price. (West London)

Anyone else a bit wary of mse these days? Since it got sold it seems like they're more of a sales site or at least have a vested interest in their recommendations.

No it's not spam, just a recommendation. As I have used them recently to change pound to euro.

How does it work for the average traveller wanting spending money, which is what this thread is about?

I was thinking of getting some dollars from debenhams,. I usually use my clarity card from an ATM in the USA but i may hedge my bets and tie in some at 1.64.or better if I could use your suggestion

minimum spend does not apply this is not a term printed on the voucher I used mine for a £15 spend

I usually get my euros from the cash machine abroad using my Halifax Clarity card. They give the inter-bank exchange rate but you have to pay interest on the sum at credit card rates when you get home. I don't think you can pre-load the card before you go.

Ah, right - it's only if you have bank accounts in different currency. Great deal for those that do, but for ordinary folks like me who just want cheap holiday money I don't think they can help.

I find you get the best rate in the queue at the post office on a Saturday morning

Try Poland

thank you

I've just got a Clarity card from Halifax. How does using this abroad compare with a straight withdrawal using a debit card? Ditto compared to a withdrawal of cash in Blighty to take abroad?

I think you have asked in wrong place as no one will look at this thread anymore.

have a read of the travelmoneymaximiser on MSE.

In a nutshell you will pay about 1% a month on any cash withdrawal assuming you got the 12.9%. pay it off instantly if you wish or wait till you get home. It is way better value over most debit cards

Clarity is almost the best way to get foreign cash, use it in the ATM abroad

So, in a nutshell, get all cash AND purchases (notwithstanding any good value exchange rates prior to travel) using the Clarity and simply pay it off instantly for zero transaction costs anywhere, ever, right?
