Been looking for a decent hybrid for a while under £400 (ok this is just under) and this has got a good spec from a good brand

The Sirrus Elite receives a wide range of nice touches, especially with its FACT carbon fork with vibration damping Zertz inserts for a smoother ride.

Nice bike for the money as you don't tend to see many reductions on Specialized kit. Do the Zertz inserts actually do anything or are they a bit of a gimmick?
I have the same Zertz/Carbon fork on an older Sirrus Elite and they certainly don't hurt. Nice bike, this, especially for the money. Need to rip off those gears immediately though, this frame suits singlespeed beautifully, especially with a 42/14 ratio, fast on the straights, still hill-worthy and nimble on the flat too
Great deal, thanks.

Now try to get some of those cold voting housebound, computer-seized, couch potatoes interested, LOL

Yes, good deal.

...but then I'm a bit of a Specialized fan-boy, so I would say that (still riding my beloved Tarmac Elite).

I purchased a Charge Plug Freestyler 2010 (great Winter bike) from Cycle Surgery for around the same price, last year. I was very impressed with the speed of the delivery, and the all-round service.
Seems a good deal, but not sure I'd buy a bike online with such odd sizing - used to the size being in cms or inches, but never large or medium.
No bell? Cold! LOL
I have purchased this exact bike in July and in oct (or maybe Sept?), Specialized ordered a recall as there was a problem with the brake mounts on the front carbon forks. Only had the forks changed in 3 weeks ago. If interested in purchasing this bike, please ensure the carbon forks have been replaced.

Otherwise this is a beautiful looking bike, very light and easy to ride. ( I hadn't ridden in over 20 years , so was my 1st bike)
Just ordered a medium thanks op.
anyone fitted sks style mudguards to these. I had ordered another bike but the short arms on the brakes didnt leave enough room.
Just under £400 with a whole 1p off lol

I have this bike http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/sub-30-2011-hybrid-bike-ec025449?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle
which was a direct replacement of my 2010 model that was nicked.
RRP is £579.99 - down to £399.99.
Great bike
"No bell? Cold! LOL"

All new bike by law come with a bell and reflectors. I rip them off straight away. I think it is rude to ring my bell at people. I just tell them to get the f*** out the way!
Shame, only Medium & Large available. I would have had one at this price, if they had the XL one in stock.

HOT!
400 quid, on yer bike
I have the 2010 version of this and I have been very happy with it. Great bike for commuting and Road riding at a leisurely pace.

I paid a damn site more than this though
Bought a 2009 sirrus elite off ebay in Oct, (£250, seller had only used twice, well happy!)

So far seems really good, use for commuting.
Bit of a hard ride, coming from a mountaing bike with big tyres, but getting used to it.

Only slight disappointment was the lack of rear rack/mudguard mounts, not sure if they have been added on latest model though.

also available from leisurelakes for very similar price (399.98) if one is close to you.

it actually came with some of those, but they were broken & wasnt too impressed with the quality to be honest.
Managed to fit some sks in the end, took a bit of doing but seems ok
cheers

edit : sorry the ones on the bike were mr crud road racer guards - very flimsy

Cycle Surgery's service is also really good. I had a bike stolen and had lost the receipt. Phoned them up and they sent a new receipt next day first class for the insurers who also kindly paid out.
I tend to agree about a bell, and how it seems rude ,to ding it behind people when you approach them .

I have the same bike (2011 model). Good price.

Yes, they come with a bell. No, they dont come with rear mud guards.

HOWEVER - They were recalled over the brake thingies (you can tell I'm a bike techy), and the upshot was that the entire front (carbon) forks need replacing... So I would check that the work to replace them has been done, otherwise get it done yourself under warranty straight away.

2p off - the bargains just keep coming lol
Not expensive enough. Doesn't a bike need to be a grand plus to be any good on here ?
Question for the experts out there. How does this compare with the cheaper GT Traffic 2 (2011) available from Wiggle for around £250 with discounts?

£400 for a bike?! I'm sure you can pick one up for about 50 quid at argos?

Even cheaper in Tesco.

Isn't it notoriously difficult to fit mudguards to the Sirrus Elite? What kind of SKS mudguards did you manage to fit Phil?

Yeah, but it will be made out of cheese. That's if it's put together properly in the first place.
''Bottom bracket Sealed cartridge, SQUARE TAPER, 68mm''; if that's correct- this stock must be ancient!.... Just sayin'.......
I've had a Sirrus and really loved it(light, fast etc.), but at £399 there really is newer, better value for money bikes around- the spec. on this is pretty low end IMHO
Sweet ride for the daily commute and a sweet price.
I don't have the elite, but I have the sirrus. Great bikes for the money. Heat added.

SKS Blumels, but got no link as i bought them of a friend (who hadn't used them).
They fitted ok really, just the lack of eyelets on the rear forks (carbon fibre on the 2009 model) that was a problem. Managed to pick up off where the carbon forks are bolted to the main frame.
Mr crud road racer are another option, but way too flimsy for my liking.

You can pick up but you can not ride it, aahhah

I have a Kona Dew hybrid which I am really happy with. They are around the £300 price mark.

Was looking for a hybrid bike for my wife last year and she couldn't find a decent female hybrid for the right money, so ended up getting another Kona Dew!

this is the link for this bike

I have a large and I'm 5'10".
There is plenty of adjustment up and down.
It is a 2009 model but sure they wont vary too much
This is a nice bike but check out

It is on sale at £379.99 + £14.99 postage + quidco. It is still retailing at £725 in alot of stores. They only have the 52cm frame now. I bought the 58cm 2 months ago and it is a dream to ride. It doesn't have carbon forks but does have hydrolic disc brakes which work a treat. Also great service from Rutland cycles...
