Excellent

I'd forgotten about Switchblade! (OK I remember SB2 specifically)

I used to love my Spectrum - the sound of the tape whirring as it loaded the game

The programme books that used to take me about an hour to get the colour CYAN written in CYAN on the screen...:)

the speed is breathtaking

Granted, I've only tried it on an older Gingerbread device, but all I'm getting is R Tape loading Error...

not used this but Marvin on the Google store is very good!!

It is just like the original sinclair take ages to load and then does absolutely nothing

Call me sceptical but this just looks like an advert for your own software? It's not a deal since it isn't on offer and there is already a spectrum emulator called Marvin which is free and works perfect. It also links to the world of spectrum archive so you can download any game for free straight from the application.

The last think HUKD needs is a deal posted for every new piece of Android or IOS software.

Sadly I can't take any credit for this emulator.

Yep there are other emulators available & Marvin is ok but it doesn't compare to Spectaculator in terms of range of options but that is just my opinion.

Not sure what the last comment is about, take a look at my profile ?

Following the programme books to enter data for a game, then when you've finally finished over an hour later and press run it tells you there's an error. Then you've got to spend another hour finding which bit of code you entered wrong.
Those were the days.

Only an hour to find the error.. sometimes longer!

Having the tape volume set at the wrong level and finding the tape based games had not loaded after 15 minutes was 'beep' but most people went back for more ...eventually getting a game to load

I have any love both but my go to is always the Ipad, not a huge fan of android.

Very nooby question

Ok what is the point of these emulators? Can you play games on them without rooting your device. If not, can anyone direct me to a easy to follow rootinhg process for nook hd please.

And the mother of all noobie question - where do you go to download your games after you're done hacking your system.

The reason I work in IT.
loved the spectrum !

At least it has a keyboard with all 26 letters of the alphabet unlike what you seem to be typing on.

Figuring out how to fix those errors was entirely responsible for my current job writing and maintaining software for actual fighter jets :-)

I worry for the next generation who may be able to do little more than muck around with spreadsheets.

Spectrums were brill - OK they had their faults but so did the C64's, Dragon 32's, BBC model B's and the Amstrad CPC's...

I had a C64 and the Speccy was crap by comparison but it was all about gameplay in those days. Not for me personally but I'm sure all those rubber keyboard users of yesteryear will be going all misty eyed over this

as others have mentioned worth checking out the free app called 'marvin'

decent emulation and you can download old spectrum games from the world of spectrum archives from the app itself.

Thanks Op

Any Atari ST emulators out there?

Definately a blast from the past, Thanks for posting

Very cool, cheers!!!!

You don't need to root or hack/mess with your device, just install it and give it a try.

The Google Play page just says "Requires Android 4.0 and up". It's free to try so there is nothing to lose.

This is a really good emulator

Good lord, it looks so feeble and rubbish now...

Manic Miner with the theme tune and wacky levels. That is a game with actual toilet humour!
