Believe it or not some people do actually like owning stuff. You can’t always depend on a film or show staying on your beloved streaming service. With this it’ll stay on as long as Apple are in business which is forever tbh.

I think you must be quite young! Enron? Pan Am? Even our own Woolworths! Apple could easily disappear in 10, 20 years. Probably won't happen but the possibility is definitely there.

Enron? Pan Am?? Are you American? Who cares about them. Not a valid comparison in the slightest

Yes, you are right. However, when digital retailers go out of business like Sainsbury’s Digital And more recently Ultra Violet, they have always refunded their customers or made the library available on another platform. Sainsbury’s gave refunds, however, the library remained on UV as well. So you had the money back and still got to keep your library. Apple are not just in the UK like Sainsbury’s, they are worldwide.. I won’t be losing any sleep over my library
It’s worth knowing what you’re actually buying when you “buy” a movie from iTunes:

Yas you forever appear on these threads slagging off iTunes etc. I just think you are a hater and bring nothing constructive here so I’d suggest just unfollowing Apple deals. Cheers.
I think the pros of the iTunes film services are often overlooked and whenever a deal is posted in this forum, I see the same comments and debates unfold.

For me, it's the conviniance of having your film collection ready to watch / download on all devices. The fact that Apple will often update the purchase to the 4k version when available. Many of the extras are added which come at a premium on the blueray equivalent.

I have friends who are avid film collectors (think steel box, limited run) who will always turn their noses up at digital copies. I can kind of relate as I will buy all my favourite music albums on vinyl over a Spotify type service. However, this group have also had to replace their entire collection, as the world has transitioned from VHS > DVD, DVD > Blueray. And that's what people forget, the Blueray version might be cheaper in Poundlound. If you're committed to having the time to convert your Bluerays into mobile formats so your can watch them while travelling or happy to repurchase it when the next format becomes the standard - then go get it.

Wow! Fanboy alert.

Just to put the record straight - although it's true I prefer physical discs, I have many Amazon and iTunes digital films. I took advantage of the cheap Alien and X-Men bundles earlier in the year. And my entire music collection is digitally held on iTunes.

Got it for cheaper 20 years ago on Kazaa.
I recently bought an Apple TV 4k. The cheap prices along with high quality video and audio make it the premium smart box. It's the next best thing to physical copies

Didn’t it turn out that this guy never actually lost anything as he changed countries on his AppleID but the country he changed to there was a different distribution license for a few of his movies to which if he changed the country back then he could then still access those movies and download them to a laptop & Hard Drive.
So the moral of the story is do as Apple advise in its T’s & C’s and download all purchases via iTunes and store them if anyone’s at all concerned.
Granted we can’t download 4K only HD, but that’s out of Apples control as it’s a studio stipulation.
Oh dear are you being serious?
