After hunting for the wine with 150 extra clubcard points at Tesco (with no luck) I have managed to spot a slightly better deal in-store at Tescos.

The bottles cost £10.99 each in store and have 300 Tesco Clubcard points per bottle (cheaper on-line but without the extra points so link is only for information) and the 25% discount. Clubcard points are worth 1p off your shopping (or 2p for non-food products in-store) but can be converted into Clubcard deal vouchers that can be exchanged for Clubcard Rewards at 4x the face value (i.e. 4p per point) of so the maths work out as follows: -

6 x £10.99 = £65.94
Less 25% -£16.49
Total = £49.45

Points
6 x 300 = 1800
+ std pts + 49
Total pts = 1849
Deals x 4 = 7396 (Worth £73.96)

See here for details of Clubcard rewards tesco.com/clu…ls/
(I have posted this offer on MSE too)

Hi mate!!!
can you please tell the store where deal is going on? and also explain the line which says 'Deals x 4 = 7396' as i am not able to understand deals x 4 thing??? If the deal is valid then its deal to go for.

when u shop at tescos u get clubcard points, each point is worth 1p, but if you convert to tesco deals they are worth 4p each, deals can be used for days out, dining and plently more HTH

this looks like a really good deal

7396 = points which is the equivalent of £73.96 if you use as "partner rewards" i.e. worth 4 times their normal value etc...check tesco clubcard scheme

Unless you book a ferry on Irish ferries who turn round and say does not apply to our website prices as these are special offers and the points revert to around a penny - !!!

Except that these were the only prices available and was booking months ahead, basically the whole thing was a waste of time with Irish ferries

Regardless of whether the points are worth 4x (depends on where you use them and whether you are getting "fair" value at 4x), the points are DEFINITELY worth 2x in store.

At a minimum the 1849 points are worth £36.98 on double-up, so in effect you are getting 6 bottles of sparkling wine for £12.47 (£49.45 less £36.98), which is £2.08 per bottle. That in itself is HOT.

Points, deals and prices are all well and good, but what does the plonk taste like?
Vinegary?

Couldn't you also use the £10 off £50 grocery spend voucher that is floating around at the moment?

This is a wine which is regularly promoted at 'half price' - for example in the March 2009 Tesco Wine Club magazine. Yet another example of creative pricing by Tesco.

Oh and Clubcard deals worth 'four times'? Only sort of. For example to use your clubcard vouchers for magazine subscription:
Full price - say 12 issues at cover price of £4 = £48, so you need £12 of clubcard vouchers. But going directly to the magazine, or through isubscribe or similar, you can typically subscribe with a discount of 20-40% and sometimes a gift as well.

Another example - at Johnsons cleaners (this deal ends shortly), you can't use the deals voucher with some other discounts.

So - Clubcard deals: Good? Yes. Worth four times value? Occasionally - usually worth about three times face.

very true esp theme parks!

Just plonking my post from MSE on here.

If you use the tesco wine shop prices as a guide of "real" value of the wine:

The torres wine is 4.26...so for £53 you get £51 "real" worth of wine. Based on the £6.64 valuation , with the deal above, you get £40 "real" worth for £50.

Just food, or is that drink? , for thought.

PS. - also, don't forget you get the 5p fuel voucher for spends over £50..

Definitely true of theme park with their 2 for 1 offers and also for the annual passes.

Merlin Annual Pass family of 4 = £400
4 annual passes via Tesco Clubcard = £540

Just renewed my Merlin Pass for £300 as it just wasn't worth spending £135 clubcard vouchers on them.

And the suckers fall for this sort of stuff :giggle:

you can always return the wine back and get a full refund. which means you keep the points and more often than not the CS forgets the wine discount. Make sure you keep one bottle as than you can say you didn't like the wine.

Eh?

THe wine costs £6.64 per bottle through Tesco wine shop.

£8.25 in store with the case discount.

So that's £1.61 more for 300 clubcard points. Worth at least £6, perhaps as much as £12.

You can't get rosé cava for less than about £4 a bottle, so £2.25 or minus £3.75 is a bloody good deal...

I pity you fool

You can't get ANY wine for £2.

No wine in Britain sells for £2 a bottle. The wine is worth at the very least £4 a bottle.

Anyone thats actually tried it comment on the taste?

I've had this fizz before and quite liked it. I'd not spend £10 on it though, and I regularly spend over £10 on what I consider to be decent bottles. I would by it for £4.99 but no more, its half decent.

Great deal heat added.

Not so many great 4* deals on points any more but still well worth it

Last year had 2 brand new cars out of Tesco on Points at 4* Value before Motorpoint pulled out and a family holiday to Kenya worth 5Grand,

So the deals are there you just have to pick and choose.

You could also use the 1849 points, if you were so minded, on £36.98 worth of wine if you were to double your clubcard points

No I just bought all the deals with massive points on them

EG : Johnsons Talc 100 points when you buy 2 at 99p each buy 100s of those pay using any old money off coupons so they cost you nothing or next to nothing, flog the stuff for a profit use the points to buy a car.

(Remember Tesco policy it to accept Money off coupons even if you dont buy the product) so for example if you have a £2 off huggies nappies coupons you can use it on whatever you want.

1st Car took 3 months solid collecting, 2nd Car took 5 Months, Holiday to 2 months.

Yes itsa time consuming but made a rather good living from it.

It is 'technically' true as in, their national policy SHOULD be this, but it is hugely store dependant as it is down to managers discretion' at that particular store...

ive read through this but cant tell what stores its at ????

This should be available in-store at Tescos where they sell wine. Not all wine varieties are available at all stores but my local Tesco is fairly small and they were stocked. No guarantees for anywhere else but might be worth a quick call to the store beforehand to find out a) if they stock it and b) there is any left.

Good luck.

This is probably a stupid question but I dont currently have a card and would like to take part in this offer. Will they be able to give me a temp card while a proper one gets delivered?

yes just picka temp card instore and use it then call them to get a proper card sent out to you. Enjoy

So if I was to do this, and then quad-power my points on the wine counter, and use them to buy 6x sparkling wines again, would I enter some sort of superpower of clubcard points?

(i.e., would I still get the 300 points again, when spending £50 worth of clubcard points, and thus power up to (300x6x4 + (300x6x4-5000) = 9400 points + 6 free bottles of sparkling wine + 6 paid-for bottles of sparkling wine.

edit: totally forgot I'd have to wait 3 months for the points in the post!

well i did this, got my 6 bottles and 1850 points. There were only 8 bottles there so bit lucky.

Going to use them at YHA where its x 4

Dude , you're confusing price with value !!

The fact that you can't buy it in the UK for £2 a bottle doesn't mean it's worth more than £2 a bottle. LOL:roll:

Went to Tesco in birkenhead Bidston last night, this deal was on and it all works - so get in there this week, when you can get the points AND 25% off for buying 6.
Good post, thanks.

PS If sparkling isn't your thing I can recommend the Nero d'Avola Sicilian red that has 100 points on it and costs £5.99 - not such a good deal as the sparkling wine, but a cracking good wine worth more than £6 anyway. So £26.95 for 6, getting 626 points translating to £25.04 worth of goods, is good too.

on the subject of clubcard points, i have been to Rome twice, Turkey for a fortnight, Cornwall for week, Scotland for a week, Alton Towers - and more. They are very definitely worth building up for a year or two to get something impressive.

FWIW, this '£10.99' wine is £6 in Asda. So if you can easily choose between Tesco and Asda, going to Tesco will cost you £4.99 for 300 points on a single bottle.

is there anywhere posts these sort of tesco deals more often? Not seen many come up here and would like to take advantage of them more.

PaidToShop is the site you are looking for. And thanks to OP - got 10,000 points on this so far towards my honeymoon and a shed load of wine!

teh arn

Hudl 2 for free is probably the best so far.
