Show your true colours

Splatter enemies and claim your turf as the ink-spewing, squid-like characters called Inklings in Nintendo's new third-person action shooter game for the Wii U console. Challenge your friends in chaotic four-on-four matches, in which the goal is to get your ink on as many places as possible and claim your turf, all while strategically submerging yourself in your team's colours and blasting your enemies. This is a colourful and chaotic online third-person action shooter, exclusively on Wii U.

Features:
•Team up and take on other teams in an action-filled battle to cover the level with as much ink as possible. Spray walls to access hard-to-reach areas.
•Covering more territory with ink unlocks powered-up super weapons that can be used to attack rivals or cover more turf.
•Strategy is everything. Defeat enemies to splatter them in an explosion of ink, covering more turf for your team. But choose wisely: Players who only go after the enemy might find their turf redecorated in their enemies' colours.
•Refill ink tanks, hide from opponents, or move faster by turning into a squid and diving into the ink with the tap of a button.
•Select between multiple control options on the Wii U GamePad controller, including using gyroscopic controls to look around, allowing for better aiming and control.
•Hop online and battle in four-on-four matches.

Before buying this everyone needs to be made aware that this game is as addictive as crack cocaine lol

Buy at your own risk as over-exposure to this game may adversely affect your employment and relationship(s). I'm not joking!!!

I tried this at Hyper Japan last Friday and found the game difficult to learn. Aiming with by gyroscope and turning was by analog. The two didn't work with ease, hopefully there's a setting to play by analog only.

But from my experience, I wouldn't purchase the game based on the default controls.

It's just a case of getting used to them and they can be customised for sensitivity. Trust me once you get the hang of it you'll be hooked!
Still not sure on this, is it really that good? Seem a little bare bones upon release, has the new content fleshed it out well?

There are options for dual analogue controls as well...but I have to say after forcing myself to get used to gyro control (and bumping up the sensitivity)..no way would I go back. It has sort of ruined dual analogue on other games for me now as I want every FPS and 3rd person shooter to have a gyro option. It works so well once it clicks with you.

Seriously, I got so used to the gyro controls, I can't even play my other fps games anymore...

Just asked this question on a twitch stream. Apparently there has been new content every week since release. Stuff like maps and guns and there is apparently going to be a huge content update in August.

I'm very hesitant like you (really considered cancelling my order) but i'm gonna keep it and if I don't like it CEX are doing £20 trade in for it (might drop a little by the time i've tried it) and if I don't like it i'll just trade it in there.

The game seemed to play well. Was a 4vs4 set up at Hyper Japan. I'm glad I can use a dual analog set up as it's something I'm used to.

But do agree that the gyro play is a difficult but stronger learning curve.

I just don't think I could convince myself to get the game after a disappointing experience last Friday.

It's the best game I have played in years, incredibly well designed.
I've been playing this at the weekend. I'm not overly an online gamer as things can get a bit serious, but this is a very casual game if you want it to be too. Matches only last 3 minutes each, which is far better than a long drawn out CoD match. And to say, so far I've not been too shabby, although only level 6 so far. I wasn't going to bother getting this but now I have it's pretty good fun.
Get this game if you don't have it. I love seeing callie and marie. Those hottie squids
Cheers guys going to pick it up!
To be honest even if you're not keen, it's worth a punt at this price. After playing if you don't like it you could easily sell it on and make the bulk of your money back. That's the great thing about leading Nintendo titles, they hold their money quite well.
Does anyone with the game and Splatoon Amiibo's know if you get much extra content? Worth getting the Splatoon Amiibo's for kids?
£22.39 now, still a bargain
