Just got back from PC World in Highgate, Birmingham and they had Spore on sale for £1.97! I got myself a copy and there were atleast 6 more left about an hour ago. And yes, it is Spore, the full game, and not that creature creator thing or the expansion! I triple checked before buying because I almost couldn't believe it. Shame they didn't have Modern Warfare 2 which is what I went to get in the first place. Still I would say it was worth the trip.

Spore is your own personal universe in a box. In this universe you can create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations and even sculpt entire worlds. In Spore you have a variety of creation tools at your disposal that allow you to customise nearly every aspect of your universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even spaceships. While Spore is a single player game, your creations and other players' creations are automatically shared between your galaxy and theirs, providing a limitless number of worlds to explore and play.

The Spore universe is made up of five phases with different challenges and goals. You may choose to start with the cell phase and nurture one species from its humble aquatic origins to its evolution as a sentient species. Or you may decide to start building tribes or civilizations on multiple planets. What you do with your universe is up to you.

Sandbox Gameplay - Create our own personal universe where you can evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations and even sculpt entire worlds.
Evolutionary Gameplay - Lead your species through stages of evolution from pond-scum to galactic god in Spore's campaign mode.
World Creators - Easy-to-use editors allow you to make everything from creatures and buildings to vehicles and spaceships.
Shared Content - Spore automatically shares your creations with other players through the Internet. And in your game, you'll explore and interact with a galaxy of content created by other players.

If anyone does see this, I would happily pay for it and add postage and some for the trouble.
£8.17 at amazon, so a decent saving.

Great find OP

Been playing it and I'm finding it rather addictive. Its one of those games, where you start playing and then look up at the clock to find a few hours have passed already lol.

Its a good game, interesting ideas, just feels too stripped down in some places, esp at the city phase.
Then everytime I get to the space age, I get bored and give up.

Making giant pint spotty c*ck creatures that spit goo never gets tiring though!

Oooh another game on my to-do list Hadn't realised the price had tumbled so much...even at the Amazon price its a bargain but at £1.97 you got an awesome deal! Nice find!

This game was a big deal a few years back, and sure it had its flaws.. but it's hardly bargain bin material.

A great deal.

Did this game ever really take off? I saw bits and bobs about it, but never played it.

Yeah got quite a decent following. No where near sims level, but is an interesting game.
Its quite simplistic, but very good fun.

The only thing this game sorely lacks, is online multiplayer. If that had been included, it would have been a huge huge hit.

Cheap. But rubbish.

Yeah, its £1.97 for a reason.

I dont know if this is still correct but when it was released it came with horrible DRM software which was really hard to get rid of.

Oh, I thought the whole point of the initial hype around this game was that it *was* going to be online multiplayer O_o

You can share creatures building vehicles with other people, and their creations can appear in your games, but you can't play online. Decision taken at design time. A poor one though.
