Lot of people looking for a cheaper Spotify option. If you have a VPN that has servers inTurkey, you are in luck!

Beware, this is a bit of a process, so definitely not for the faint of heart, but worth doing for the savvy spenders amongst you!

You'll need a VPN for this, we have loads to choose from in our mega-thread HERE

Many thanks to @Kigo1 for his brilliant thread, which is very much the basis for this one. Credit @LucaLutzmydealz.de/dea…675 for the info / how-to and @bigst for updated Lira pricing heads up

Prices:
Spotify (1 User) = 13.99 TL
Spotify Family (6 Users) = 20.99 TL

Prerequesites:
- A Turkish VPN (ExpressVPN App for iOS/Android, 7 Day Free Trial)
- A credit/debit card with low /no exchange fees (Revolut or Starling card for example)

Buying Spotify Premium
  • Start your Turkish VPN
  • Login to your Spotify via web
  • Select Spotify Premium or Family, and follow the card process to purchase.
  • Should be good to go, just make sure to have enough in your card each month, and as the lira is quite unstable, be careful of exchange increasing.

Community Updates
Deezer from turkey here slightly cheaper than spotify. Plus cannot pay with a uk card directly as it doesn't work

Fight rip off Britain charges!

Average income in the Phillipines is £3700 per year so it's isn't actually a rip off, just adjusted based in income in each territory.

If Phillipines were charged the same as us, it would be equivalent to Brits paying £100 a month for Spotify

Heat added for the indepth guide!
I'm sure HukD would love the same for Netflix
My head hurts just from reading that. I dread to think what it would be like trying it

That's a good one, OP. Only thing is that I can't see a link to pay via PayPal, just cards.
Edit: NM, it's good now.

so do you need to be on the vpn to consume content or is it like netflix where you get the content for the country you are currently in regardless of where you signed up?

I'd agree to pay more if that money went to the artists tbh, but I don't know if it does or not

No. You only need to use the VPN during sign up.

Does it renew every month at this price
I did this a while back. It does renew from the PayPal account so you need to keep it topped up. Last time the main issue people has was linking a card to the PayPal to make it useable. After alot of messing I eventually linked my Revolut.
Guessing the risk is if they catch you they ban you from site and you lose all your playlist?

Love the price though.

What's the advantages of switching to a UK account?
I keep getting a we're sorry we weren't able to complete your payment or set up pre approved payments when trying to buy it
Shame you need to faff around with the Filipino PayPal account. I remember paying for Brazilian Deezer Premium with my usual PayPal account.
express VPN is 99£ upfront. any other VPNS that can do the philipines and is cheaper?
Edited by: "sonofgojira" 19th Jun 2018
managed to do it all without VPN, except coming to pay on the paypal section it keeps saying invalid postcode. yet its the one on my paypal. any idea?
Does it keep your Philippine pricing after you move to the UK?
Gonna give this a go later and will post results

Will use revolut card

Okay, but that's not a deal is it? It's grifting.

Spotify barely make any money at all despite having so many customers. Nor do 99% of artists, nobody wins.

Artists have lots of ways of making money. Surely streaming (if what we read is true and they don’t get much of a cut, which I think is only true for free subscribers. Premium subscribers do contribute to the artists as far as I understand) is an avenue to raising awareness for their music so that, when they go on tour, we all pay over the odds.

Spotify has introduced me to dozens of artists I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise.

Sorry, but I don’t see many hard up artists.
after I tried to log in to PayPal and put in my uk details the subscription jumped to £14.99 per month, stopped what I was doing and went back into Spotify confirmed it was still at 194PH

Anyone experience the same?
When attempting to add a credit card on Paypal PH, every card comes up with "the billing address you entered is invalid" (made up PH address). How do you work around this please?

Just find 5 people and pay £30 per annum.
UK Spotify family plan.
Edited by: "deleted1336857" 19th Jun 2018
This method is a bit flaky, I doubt it would always work. I'll try it when I have the energy! Although I have done it with Deezer and that is happily working a year later. Spotify just seem a bit more...on the ball for these workarounds.

Er, where?
thriftysense19/06/2018 21:05

Er, where?

£15 per month X 12 = £180
Split between 6 people

Nothing special
ok so why is it necessary to 'bring it back to the UK account'?
can you not use it as a PH account, on phones etc?
Is this possible with other music streaming apps?
This stuff is old, man.
Heat for the effort, but if they catch on, I can see them changing this method ASAP.
Im keeping mine in PH, which seems to work OK from the mobile app, not sure if spotify family has been activated though as it just says Premium.
