Just goes to show how much we are being ripped off if one country can pay …Just goes to show how much we are being ripped off if one country can pay a lot less than another.

Average wages are always substantially lower in countries that pay less than us. On balance, it is usually even compared to earnings in each country

Not nonsense at all. if a country can be charged based on the national wage then why do Spotify not give special rates for the unemployed or old people on a pension ?

Are people in Monaco paying 10 times what the UK pays ?
  10. Avatar
So just to be clear, has anyone actually got this through the payment screen correctly? Surely this deal should be removed if not?

Cant talk about Monaco but pricing also depends on appetite for a particular service along with cost of content acquisition & probably many other factors not known to me. I'm not saying that all country pricing for such services are at par but comparing 2 vastly different countries is not really an apple to apple comparison in my humble opinion.

I must say I'm glad Spotify have put in measures to prevent people from wealthier countries from exploiting this.

The last thing I'd want is for people in poorer countries to have less access to the services we take for granted here.

I think to many people nowadays just read the initial deal headlines and vote without looking into trying or trying said process hence gets so hot even when it disnae work

As far as I'm aware, if you're on a premium sub it doesn't matter. The rule on their site is that you can use it abroad outside of your registered country up to 14 days..

"You can use Spotify in a country different than the one registered on your account for up to 14 days. After that, you need to upgrade to Premium or change the country registered on your account."

I can confirm it's two weeks for free but premium is fine. I let my sub finish in Mexico recently as I got the 12 months free on Vodafone and the 14 day message popped up right after the Mexican sub had finished

Pin is a postcode. I tried with a New Delhi one but got the "Your payment method and country don't match. To continue, change your account's location or use a different payment method." Message.

Spotify insist on the payment card being from the same country as the Spotify you are signing up to.
Revoult unfortunately is registered in the UK so you cannot use that

10 quid a month for all the money Spotify have to pay record labels is extremely cheap. The company actually operates at a loss and I for one wouldn't mind paying £15. Any song you want at any point for a tenner? Of course it's going to be cheaper in India because in Goa you can rent two sunbeds, eat all the food and drink all the alcohol you want for a whole day for less than a fiver. It's relative depending on GDP. It's extremely good value to me in the UK.

They block you from accessing the account unless your in the country of origin or use a VPN. A message pops up saying you can only use this account for 2 weeks outside the country of origin. At least it did for me. (edited)
