Just announced this afternoon by Spotify - you no longer require a Premium subscription to use the Spotify app on your mobile or tablet.

Still ad supported of course. Great now that the 5 play limit is also gone too.

Note I'm not sure if the app has been updated yet (probably will need to go through Apple's approval process before the update is pushed through).

Really? Hmm. Maybe they will address that with the upcoming update (hopefully).

Finally might have some use for that crappy O2 Joggler I bought years ago

Google Play is not a much better alternative. Same £9.99 and a much worse app.

" Enjoy your free 48 hour trial of Spotify Premium" - WTF? (on ISO), So I'm guessing this isn't out yet.

Christmas pressie then

What? That's the only reason I upgraded lol. £10 a month to not have ads? Can't imagine many people'll be keeping their subscriptions...seems an odd move. Unless they're losing a lot of market share to the newer ones that came out this year?

There's also a play time limit also, don't forget. In fact, annoying as the ads are, the playtime limit is the #1 reason I'd ever upgrade, but £10 is just a tad steep considering how much I actually use it.

HHHHHHOOOOTTTTT

Thanks

Ah right, didn't realise there was a play limit other than the 5 song thing that they removed before.

I wonder if the app on my Onkyo av receiver will be updated to include this. I'll email support to see.

I cancelled my account but just gone on spotify on iPad and it's all live again.....seems like free to me yyeeaaa

It works on my nexus 7 2013. Thanks!

Nice one thanks OP. Still won't be updating to the premium subscription though

Great news - thanks!

Brilliant thanks for the info - was doing my head in that i couldnt use it on my ipad even through my own home wifi network because it classed it as roaming.

Yeah I'd assume so...

@coco2007 How does this help Joggler users exactly? I have one myself, curious to know what you're planning with yours.

That's great, thanks for the update!

coco2007

Yeah I'd assume so...

I assumed so as well but they seem to be making a big deal about it being free "everywhere" - and in the video playing in the background some people appear to be using it out in the middle of nowhere. I hoped that could mean it was a Nokia Music style offline. You're probably right though.

Seems to be working on iPad now but not on iPhone strange

Yeah you just made me think actually; was such a long time ago that I'd forgotten I was running Linux on the Jog, not Android like I thought I had. Damn - back to being an expensive clock then. As you were!

It also looks like the £4.99 Unlimited tier is now gone and no-one seems to know what's going to happen to existing users on that tier.

Well it would be awesome but I guess you need to keep some features back for those paying a tenner a month

Ive never had spotify, just downloaded the free app and I'm assuming I'm using the full features for free...

You might be on a premium trial - usually get the 1st month for free for new users.

Ah, Cheers.

working a treat on my nexus 7. And it must have done something clever in the background, because my free trial expired about 5 weeks ago, and I haven't used it since. I'm going to have a proper play and report back, but deffo hot.

Free unlimited music? Bargain!

Is this working on iPhone it works on my iPad but not phone?
