all of you are broke af if you cant afford 9.99 a month

Trying to minimise your outgoings doesn't make you "broke".

In my experience people with outlooks such as yours tend to be those that have a little less cash than everyone else.
£22 for a years subscription if you buy via paypal in the Philippines.

I can’t believe the hassle I had trying to set that up and still failed...

Just use Spoticheap. Does the job for you but you don't need to mess around with VPNs and overseas cards.

Bought a twelve month membership a while ago, activated within twelve hours and problem free since.
It's £93.99 at Costco.. (Still voted Hot) Costco link

How do you do that please?
Use a vpn and as suggested before and change your country to Philippines. Use paypal u already have. Afyer this, Netflix is about 30 quid a year and Spotify 22.

Google is your best friend on how to do this.

That didn't work for me and many others. It wasn't the VPN, it was a PayPal billing issue where it wouldn't process my card. I'm sure many of you have done it but many of us also couldn't.

Much of the time, yes. I paid for a Premium upgrade which was fine but other buyers later reported their accounts were upgraded using stolen credit cards... eBay, as usual, are useless at policing it where it doesn’t directly affect them.

Doesn't this breach T&Cs? So Spotify can just axe your account, because you're not at the same address? I saw they say forward emails for address verification to their customer service depot but seems a bit of a gamble? How reliable is it?

That's why I don't use it. I couldn't stand the thought of accumulating years of playlists only for someone to click the "delete" button.

Its never about affording something its about value. I don't value the service at £9.99 per month when other services like Netflix are cheaper. I buy it when its 3 months for £9.99 because that is more my valuation.

I can only speak from experience that it has been hassle free, but obviously you don't save £100 without some risk.

All you can do is guess, and in the past Spotify have turned a blind eye to family accounts where clearly people aren't family, and Philipino accounts that are never used in the Philippines.

My guess is they have done their sums and realised most people using these accounts wouldn't pay full price, and therefore it is in their interest to continue. After all it would be trivial for them to block all Philipino accounts that were never used in the Philippines.

It goes both ways - if people sign up for a Philipino account they only have to pay rights holders at Philipino rates.

But - there are no guarantees. Is this likely to be around in ten years time, no, but I am already quids in.

They get paid through PRS not just Spotify uno(y)

Artists barely get paid. Remember someone signing up to a record label agrees on a 80/20 split - they get 20% if the record company has recouped it's advance. If not they get nothing.

If you want to support small artists who need the money go to concerts. Most of the money you pay Spotify for the artists ends up in the pocket of a huge record label.

You need to have credentials. They do checks to make sure you are registered at a real college not some online thing.
I choose to download music from kingdom leaks and then pay to see the bands I like instead. They get more money from ticket proceeds vs a £5 itunes purchase (of which apple take 30%), and I have more money to throw at them for tshirts i'll regret buying a few years down the line.

Artists see pennies from streaming services. Anyone who justifies the £10 a month as them being better than pirates are deluded. If anything its worse, you're filling the pockets of corporate filth as opposed to the bands themselves.

Music streaming is literally just convenient piracy. Except Spotify usually remove albums and even artists quite often, where as my collection will last forever.

What's Spotify?

"Spotify is an audio streaming platform launched by Spotify AB on 7 October 2008. It provides DRM-protected music and podcasts from record labels and media companies. As a freemium service, basic features are free with advertisements or automatic music videos, while additional features, such as improved streaming quality, are offered via paid subscriptions."
