Spotify Premium student deal - now no NUS card required 50% off - £4.99 p/m

50% off Spotidy Premium for students has been around for a while, but now there's no requirement to buy an NUS extra card, which usually cost £12 (if your uni doesn't provide one for free), if you sign up via unidays . Only works for students though as they require you to sign in to your uni via Shibboleth/OpenAthens.

It's a cracking deal for a student. I rather luckily get an NUS card through my previous employer as an Alumni (which is awesome), well worth the £5 a month for premium, tbh well worth the £10 a month if you are not a student.

Thanks. I only have one month left at 50% through NUS and still have an active uni days account till next year

Not sure if virginmedia are still doing spotify but I signed up 18 months ago and still get spotify for free, it was supposed to last 6 months, I know they do student bb deals for 9 months as well

Students? *sigh

Unidays is a website free to sign up to that offers students discounts online...you can get to the student spotify sign up through them.
I have just signed up

Heat, but it says the £5 price is only valid for 12 months

Thanks - you've just reminded me to cancel my Spotify subscription as I'm using Google Music these days instead! Good deal - Spotify is pretty awesome but Google Music pretty much offers the same functionality except through a web browser, is free to use on mobile devices and you can upload all your own music to it.

It's says on the app that it is only free only for 30 days and then £7.99 a month?

Don't think samsharp99 is implying he doesn't pay for google music. Just that it offers a similar (if not better for some) service than spotify, and is a little cheaper.

This pleases me, never had an NUS card. Thanks OP

My 50% off ran out yesterday It's great value for £5 a month. Can easily find nus numbers online so will probably sign up again

Excellent! I though £10 was a bit high, I managed to get another free trial which ends next week - £5 per month is a steal!

I think I'm going to give Google's play music trial a spin first though - just to compare.

Pff.. I tried spotify with student discount but then realized, hold on, I'm paying & still don't own the music? No wonder there is so much piracy going on.

What I do now is, create a spam acc every 30 days so I can take advantage of the 1 month free trial.

screw capitalism

My £11.99/year Music Unlimited sub will be out in a few months. Will definitely be going with this deal if Sony doesn't do another great offer like that!

I got that for the mrs, a great deal but tbh spotify is infinitely better and more user friendly

cant do it as it wants you to be logged into a uni campus

Does anyone use Entropay as payment method? VCC keeps getting rejected. Never had a problem using it anywhere else.

Great deal for me. I was happily paying £10 a month so half price is great by me.

I have unlimited for £4.99 ... I went through unidays and it says I need to cancel my subscription before signing up for premium. But that means I'll end up paying £4.99 for the few days I've used unlimited this month, and then have to pay another £4.99 for premium. Confused.

Ok, so is there a way to get this deal if you're not a student?

But all your playlists etc will be gone. So alot of hassle to re-sync everything again.

Thanks very much OP my NUS card deal runs out this month so saved £12 renewing it and just did this. Much appreciated. Heat

If I hadn't just paid £20 for a years worth of Premium on eBay last week, I would jump at this

Hmm, it would be tempting if it wasn't still limited to 12 months (my previous discount has now expired). At least Music Unlimited is only £42/year (£3.50/mo) for now!

It's just a different business model. If you're not buying individual albums or singles then the artists need to make their money through a share in subscriptions. The advantage for the consumer is that you get full access to anything in the library, the disadvantage is that you never own a copy. Seems like a fair arrangement to me.

you can share your play list, so as long as you have speedy internet, it shouldn't be that much of a problem

My NUS Extra card deal run out 2 weeks ago.. I did hope I'd still be able to get on Unidays but I can't login via Athens any more.

Back to paying full price.

What deal is this?

Thanks. Just took advantage of this. Saves me £5 a month.

How do I get this deal if I'm not a student? Thanks

So this is a deal that has been around forever, and now there is just another way for STUDENTS
to sign up without an NUS, but you still need to be a student with a STUDENT Campus login details

so cold my toes almost came off

Awesome thanks for the heads up

Still got access to UNiDAYS for another few months luckily so will probably go for this.

But I want this deal :-(
