sorted bySpotify Unlimited is only £5 per month and lets you listen ad-free, but would only therefore cost £60 a year
Spotify Premium is £10 a month and is ad-free plus mobile and offline etc. Saving £120.
Still a brilliant deal either way, but mainly Virgin that's being misleading here mixing up the terms.
Spotify Premium, free for 6 months. Link
Spotify Unlimited, free for 12 months. Link
All need a new 12 month contract on the 50MB service.

I called them a couple of weeks ago and below is what I can remember of the conversation.
Me... Hello, would it be possible for you to send me a new DLink wireless Modem out as mine has burnt out.
VM Support... I'm really sorry to hear that Mr **** sorry for the inconvenience. Firstly have you tried to turn off your modem and turn it back on?
Me… I cannot turn on the modem as it has burnt out, there is an electrical smell coming from it and there are no lights on the modem.
VM Support... I truly am sorry to hear that Mr **** let me see what I can do to resolve the problem. I need to connect to your modem and diagnose the problem.
Me... You cannot connect to the modem as it has no power; it is faulty and has burnt out.
VM Support... Let me see what I can do to help you Mr **** but first I need to connect your modem.
Me… OK, am I not making myself clear here? The modem has burnt out and needs to be replaced with a new one; are you able to send me a new one in the post?
VM Support… I’m very sorry Mr *** I am unable to send a new modem in the post until I have connected to your system to diagnose the problem.
I think you get the gist of the story, these people work to a process route, unfortunately for me there is no route for a burnt out modem, so the conversation ended and I bought one off Ebay for a tenner!
To add insult to injury, they still struggle to get my name right, I correct them each time but all I get in return is “I am ever so sorry Mr ***”; again calling me the incorrect name!
Well done VM keep up the poor work!

Im glad this was posted as i was going to do it, as soon as i saw the email the other day and saw that 12 month sign up was needed it went in the deleted items bin. That's what people where missing, i have 50mb and have done since launch but there's no way i would let them tie me to another 12 months contract especially now with all the traffic management that they are doing and yes its on 50mb eventhough they will tell you its totally unrestricted its not. I had virgin out loads of times as my speed was being capped even when i hadnt been dowloading, they sent enginners out time and time again changing my modem for there **** hub then back again in the end it took there top troubleshooter guy in Birmingham to ring me and explain he didn't think there was any management on 50mb but he would speak to one of the guys whos in charge of the management scheme and find out, a few days later he rang me and told me that after some digging that they where now using management on 50mb. There **** liars and lied to me time and time again and everyone else, they keep making a big deal about the fact there's no limits on there 50mb service when there is. Even when i said if i didn't know better id swear there was some shaping on my connection only to be told that there was no shaping on 50mb.
Liars and if i could find someone else who can deliver a service with the same speed virgin will be gone.
Cold
Thats where they have you by the nads at the moment, hopefully things will change and they will have competition. I asked them in the week to reduce my bill and the only way they would is if i signed up for 12 months, dont think so.
depends on who you speak to. If its their overseas call centre then you may as well go and ask your local hair dresser!
absolute rubbish do you work for bt, I have never had any sort of capping traffic management I'm just waiting for 100 meg to arrive in my area in october ,personally I would sign for life with vm I love my tivo and the broadband is faultless for me any way, I'm still waiting for vm to get back to me so will update the thread when they do
When they nsend me a bill the name on the envelope says " Her Excellency" Is this a pee take or does everyone get this?
I have no intention of leaving VM as i have been with them since they took over NTL and i was a customer with them for a thousand years. I do not have a wire that goes from my house to the telegraph pole so i cannot have anything other than cable.
I know this to be a fact. If you haven't noticed on your line then you're either lucky or you're flying under the radar.
I wouldn't trust a thing that comes out of Virgin Medias sales department or customer service. Also no-one us even sure which package thisus, and all the details disagree with each other. You're insane to sign up to this before someone can confirm EXACTLY which package this is.
firstly are u on the r26 fw ? i take it thatyou only get 35mb on wireless not a wired connection r29 beta is out at the moment and supposidly sorts a few issues out including wireless speeds
The Superhub is almost universally hated
But I do have some sympathy with VM who were spending most of their support time on dealing with peoples LAN side issues (the users wireless router etc) behind their modem. They will push you quick via support to ignore wireless - plug a wire into the back and try a test.
The Superhub firmware that puts it into bridge mode will surely help us power users.
In the meantime, make sure you do this to your SERVICES on the Superhub:
Turn off FIREWALL Features
Turn off Port Scan Detection
Turn off IP Flood Detection
This helps many people stop the daily reboot. It did for me.
Good luck.
not yet its due in the next 2 weeks me thinks
Never mind, no that is not possible. Still a good deal.

yes
Carry on with your super fast up to 50Mb broadband for another 12 months, and we’ll give you a music collection that’ll make your friends really jealous – Spotify Unlimited, free for 12 months
If I had the option for Vigin BB where I love then I'd probably be taking this up.
States usually 9.99 a month implying premium, but clearly says unlimited many times.
Nice addition for free anyway
Ill have to look into this and see if Im eligable, spotify!

Also you are tied in to Virgin for a further 12 months.....
Offer available to Virgin Media XXL broadband subscribers who sign up to a new 12-month minimum period for XXL broadband. Vouchers are not transferable. Spotify is a 3rd party service with two paid services – Spotify Premium – retailing at £9.99 and Spotify Unlimited retailing at £4.99. At the end of the "free" period, your Spotify service will automatically downgrade to Spotify Open (an ad-supported service) unless you confirm to Spotify that you wish to pay for Spotify Premium. Offer ends 30th Aug 2011 (or earlier if demand is very high, in which case we will advise the new closing date on our website). Spotify terms and conditions of use apply. For details go to spotify.com/uk/…al/
All calls are recorded by Virgin Media. If you have been misinformed then call them up and ask for a transcript of the call in which they lied to you. Then ask to speak to their retentions team who will more than likely throw an offer at you that cannot be resisted.
Whenever I challenge a company to do this they just say "MAY" be recorded, so can't do it! Nice get out clause.
Just a small tip a lot of major towns and city's will have it in around 6-12 months.
I did have some problems like 0.5 Mb/s for couple weeks but after some serious **** over the phone (paying £40/month) it has improved.
" What you've requested - 'Spotify Unlimited - Free for 12 months' "
There is no mention of changing our package at all, although the email that has just arrived says 'we're on the case and will get back to you as soon as possible' so if there are any hiccups I'll get back on here and edit this.
But heat added and nice spot OP.
**** 10pm. Had an email from Virgin telling me that as I hadn't had an email offering me this deal I couldn't take advantage of it. Shame that.

I think there is an error. Although it says "Unlimited" it also says £9.99 a month which is Premium price.
In the legal stuff at the bottom of the page it says
"Spotify is a 3rd party service with two paid services – Spotify Premium – retailing at £9.99 and Spotify Unlimited retailing at £4.99. At the end of the "free" period, your Spotify service will automatically downgrade to Spotify Open .
I would check first with them what is actually on offer before signing up.
I'm on 50 meg and if you download more than 1gb in an hour you get capped for 6 hours.
This applies to "peak times" which with virgin means most of the day
Do not be fooled by Virgin!
