It's now been reduced to £19.99 most likely nationwide, subject to stock availability. My local store had over 25 in stock.

I spoke to the store manager and he said if the price was on a Red Printed Price Card, as this was, then the reduction should be nationwide in all stores that have stock left.

Dont expect miracles in low light at maximum magnification. but unless you want to pay £150+ for a premium brand product then this isn't a bad scope to keep in the boot of the car or as a first scope for the kids.

I've had a look around the forums before I bought mine and there seems to be more supporters than knockers.....

Rubber coated.......

nice.......

:-)

It's only a matter of time before the "optics-queens" step in... but for the money these are very, very good value.

Excellent value, voted hot.

A couple of posts from the bird watching forums...

"Borrowed my neighbours out of curiosity and on a tripod alongside my Leica 77 I was pleasantly suprised, focus is critical, depth of field shallow and softish at higher zooms but for the price very impressive."

"It is a very acceptable scope, and anyone who buys one will not be disappointed; magnification up to 40 is good then dims, a clear 40 mag is pretty damn good in my book."

"Its obviously not in the same league as Leica's or Nikons but neither is it in the same price bracket. I was very dubious when I opened the box, but as soon as I looked through it I was well pleased. It may have curvature at the edge of the field, and more CA than my Leica but it in the centre of the field it does do what I want a telescope to do - make stuff bigger. I only wanted it as a travel scope/boot of the car job, so am very pleased I didnt spent £80-100 on a more well known 50mm scope."

My little lad wants a telescope for his 5th birthday and this looks ideal as a start for him.
Would it be any good for moon gazing or stars as well as birds etc.???

Hot from me, It seems like a good telescope for the money. Well done on finding a review always helps.

This scope is more for bird /nature watching and is better is good light. It wont be so good for star gazing as an proper astronomical telescope (and vice vesra!). But if its just basic astronomy like looking at the moon /saturn they it wont be too bad as a starter.

These well respected Bresser binoculars from Lidls at £14.99 are better for basic astronomy ( my branch still has some) but harder to keep still than the spotting scope on a tripod.

Binoculars - 10x50
50mm objective lens diameter with 10x magnification. Robust rubber-coated metal casing. Exceptional viewing due to BaK-4 prisms and fully coated lenses. Fold down rubber eye caps for spectacle wearers

EDIT: Lidl do sell quite good proper Astronomical telescopes from time to time as well.

Dunno if I'm allowed to post this here, but I've got one of these which I bought last time they were around that I've been meaning to flog on eBay, if anyone can't get hold of one in their local shop? Bought it so little-un can look at the stars and stuff but as mentioned, it's much better for looking at birds and nature - isn't really strong enough to see the heavens.

Send me a msg if you're interested

I've used it to look at the moon and the whole of the moon fills the lens. I have used it to look at Saturn - obviously it is tiny but you can make out the rings.

Hello
