Square have reduced their credit/debit card reader to half price £19 + VAT (£22.80) in their online shop, free delivery. Would be suitable for small businesses who want to take card payments. Their transaction fees look comparable with the other providers such as iZettle and looking at online reviews and Trustpilot get decent reviews.

Square, Sum Up and other US Companies are simply crap, they close your account at any point holding your funds just like paypal, with no uk support centre, you simply go round and round ...! AVOOOOOOOOIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDD

I know plenty of small businesses that dont take card.

I know plenty of restaurants that dont take card. Big turnovers. Think what you like.

I once went to a cafe that only took card. No cash!
Yet another Chanchi deal..hot
Does it accept cryptocurrency such as Electroneum and Bitcoin?

Assume you mean around the £30 contactless limit, you would then just use the chip and pin.

Handy tip to counter such a thing, always keep 2 contactless cards together if you don't have a shielded holder so the machine can't read one.

If only they had a website that you could check. Would probably take less time than typing an inane post here. I'll email them and suggest this.

Do you take large payments (e.g., £600+)? Contractors, or anyone in the sort of trade you'd be paid decently-large sums of money at a time, have no end of trouble with these. It's something to do with fraud prevention, where card processing providers can withhold money for something like 18 months until it can be proven to be non-fraudulent/money laundering etc.

Problem is, these crappy little pop-up companies cheap out on customer service. Provide all the proof you like...if no one on the other end cares, you'll get nowhere.
Wouldn't have a problem with one of these for contactless but for chip and pin where I would need to confirm pin on their phone/tablet I would not be happy doing that, just looks too open to fraud.

if you're a total moron, you'll fit right in!!! haha
I have recently bought a SumUp reader for the network group I'm treasurer for. It's been really good so far, I paid £19+vat for the reader, which is contactless or chip and pin. If pin is entered it's on the reader, not the phone. You use it with an app on your phone, an can add an "employee" in my case the person taking payment on the desk, he also has the pp, but can't do anything other than take payments, and issue receipts by email. I can do all the bank and admin stuff.

The rates are better then paypal or stripe, and so much easier for us as people always "forget" their meeting fees!

I'm happy to refer anyone who would like a code, I believe you would get a discount - and I'd get a small payment towards fees.

Homeless people should invest into these.
Square is brilliantz great software out of the box included with their app and online offering.

Ive used for 12 months for business. Varying payments from £1 to £thousands per transaction with no problems.

Couldnt complain apart from id like better rates depending on voume

You might be being sarcastic but these can be powered by battery, operated in city WiFi hot spots and would have a time delay to hit their bank which could be in stewardship of a local housing authority until they are better setup.

Actually a semi genius idea

No, I was serious. I have one connected to a battery pack myself for my business when I'm out. I always wondered if they had one or smaller that they could use.

I think big issue or someone should try it. I bet they're far cheaper to buy in bulk.
golfie14 h, 8 m ago

How do they buy crack with these?

The dealer gets one too obviously. As do all of the people in the chain until you get all the way to the top. Overseas payments can be done by cardholder not present. I'm pretty sure the feed would be funded by numerous government agencies to set this up
Can I use it even if I have not a registered company or a solo trader etc.? I mean, can I use it as a self employed?
Square is my second favourite shape... Hot!😁
So basically get this for £19. Then get a zero percent purchase card (the best deal is 28 months). Then 'buy' something from yourself for the whole redit limit (small transaction fee), and there you have it... Cash, interest free. Cheaper than getting a loan.

Just my tuppence worth.

Kindest regards
