I have the fisheye and its very good. Great fun. I use RawTherapee to edit and I have a lens profile for it so I can remove the fisheye effect if i fancy too so its double versatile

triobot

Great buy but if the fish eye body cap lens was at this price, I'd purchase this.

wansheet

Couldn't resist. Something to experiment with. Reviews aren't too bad considering it's price. Good find.

Thanks. It's £29 delivered (white or silver) from their EBay store. Went for the silver as something fun for a little Panasonic GF5 I picked up earlier in the week.

I've always wanted to get the 50mm lens, but after seeing recommendations from here and checking out some reviews, I bought this one. Now I have to wait for it to be restocked :|

Oneday77

Everyone who reads into photography always hears about the Nifty Fifty. People then go in to say that a 50mm lens is a must to most kit bags and that it’s very versatile. While most of that is true, that is only advice when using either a full frame or 35mm camera. In the case of of DX Nikon bodies, including the pro level d500. The 35mm should be used as opposed to 50mm. Then just about everything you read about of heat is the equivalent.

BadCredit

Just get it. Magic lens. Takes wonderful pictures without working too hard.

grove39

From what i've read, don't bother and wait for the 1.4 when it comes out. One person on a photography forum said the 1.4 was pretty good (Canon only at the moment) but was actually giving the 1.8 away for nothing as it was that bad.

I would also look at getting a 50mm lens of some sort for portraits. In terms of 4K, the nearest thing to the E-M10 that will do 4K is the Panasonic G7. It's a great camera but there is no stabilisation system in the body. If you are not fussed about 4K stick with the E-M10.

its fine, sometimes the wind needs to be long, im new to this area but have had the intention of moving upward and away from my simple and old fuji finepix f800exr, im going to be spending quite a bit of time away over the next few months and would just like to do a little more with a better camera if possible, the camera is going to be used for general use and scenery , and some night work and maybe then some astrophotography, there are a number of lenses that keep cropping up in the capable budget category one being the rokinon 14mm 2.8. first question is , will this sort of cover most bases for me for now how do you feel about it not having 4k capabilities, i dont shoot a lot of film and im not one to constantly need the newest of formats or specifications but would like to know if there was anything similar in this range that did shoot 4k, i briefly looked at the mark iii but it was too much of a leap for me. also how long after spending 4 days reading do i stop waking up shouting either, focal lengths at random and or words like abberations.

spatter

Tell you the truth film is so forgiving that it will probably be better than you think. Plus each picture actually has a real value in that it cost you something! Buy a 50 1.4. it will probably be around £60. It's a great lens. And processing is a bit tricky now. Look at Bristol cameras as they have a really cheap postal service. Or AG PHOTOGRAPHIC for a better and more expensive one....

moorjock

Will look out for that one, not got my first film back yet hoping the pics dont match the ones i used to take on my instamatic when i was a kid

spatter

The Sony has way better AF. I'm sure the Olympus takes great photos though. It looks good.

Nice deal. I notice the GX8 is also in the £200 cashback promotion for anyone who is wanting one of those

woldranger

I'm gonna nip to my local John Lewis to see if they have these on display - I've had a play with the Olympus M10 and liked it, but these are crazy cheap in comparison. I'm not sure about the kit lens with these - I'm used to my effective 28-80 range on my current SLR and I think the 60mm might not be enough at the long end.

zorbathegeek

Good from what I can gather. Can't believe this is cold. I bought one. Delighted! The body only is a great deal if you already have lenses. If I can live with the kit zoom I'll likely upgrade to the expensive Olympus 12-40/2.8 M.Zuiko PRO when I see a decent deal; lots of talk that it's a 'do everything' lens which could save a fortune on primes.

woldranger

What are SRS like to deal with, I've never come across them? Can't believe these are so cheap with the cashback, I my get one instead of the Olympus M10 while they're so much cheaper How does the 35-100 lens (that's bundled in the twin lens package with these guys) compare to Olympus's 40-150?

Thanks for the response. So all the e-Zoom stuff is built into the lens? Sounds good. Tempting! The gx7 has OIS in some of its lenses, but also there's OIS to some extent in the body (although not as effective obvs). It definitely helps take away the little vibrations and shakes when using my Canon FD adapter and lenses. Thanks :)

dragonzuiko

I bought mine from them last week via eBay. Great price, the only thing that was annoying, they sent it with parcel force and in a plastic bag, which means the lens box got damaged :(

dougan

The 12-40mm 2.8f is not really comparable at 7 times the price!

Nathe

Luckily they're not so you're good to go ;-)

What utter tosh you talk. KR is probably the most divisive person in photography... I personally have no feelings about him either way as I never read his reviews but I certainly don't view him as a camera expert, I'll leave hero worship to you... As an aside I have used this camera several times but have no vested interest as I don't own one. Have you used one? No, I didn't think so (_;)

mikeyfive

Scoffing camera experts, who'd have thunk it? ... Oh right, it's a review you don't agree with so it must be wrong, and I'm sure you know much more about cameras than KR. It's a funny thing about reviews and reviewers, if it indulges your several thousand pound purchase then it's always right.
