There seemed to be some problems but might have ironed them out now! For the price its much cheaper than BT. Even though i got a good BT deal that worked out about £12 a month and for fibre as well! But the BT deals ate complicated and they don't pay out all the vouchers so you have to chase them!

At least this is one simple price that includes line rental

SSE throttle speeds.

Not available in my neck of the woods, even if I wanted it (_;)

PLEASE DONT GO WITH SSE

I signed up to this package in July and have spent the next 3 months complaining on a daily basis to SSE about the way they have been throttling the speed of my fibre broadband. Don't get me wrong in the day times it's amazing I get around 77mbps but as soon as 5pm arrives it's throttled down to less than 1mbps yes 1 it's absolutely disgusting and after complaining to the CEO of SSE and with me mentioning the ombudsman service they finally allowed me to leave my contract 15 months early without charge. My line is being taken over tomorrow by sky who I've been told don't throttle the speed so fingers crossed but if you like streaming on demand etc SSE is not for you after 5pm hope it helps

Rest easy I am with sky for normal unlimited broadband, as there is no space in the cabinet for me to have fibre :(, and my speed is a steady 13 Meg anytime. Streams perfectly, apart from the odd router reset it has been flawless.

very poor speeds, go elsewhere.

dont not go with these mine is throttled down to 0.01 mbs at times yes thats 0.01 they are a joke

when you complain they ask you to go to speedtest.net/btw…ale for speedtest and of course this shows max almost everytime which is what they want you to see

Wow I am with bt and not happy with the price but after reading the reviews on sse so glad I didn't press the checkout button fewwww 1mb that's shocking

Took the deal with these for the 78meg Unlimited + Line rental + Anytime calls about 4 months ago when Topcashback were giving £136 quid or thereabouts.
This means it costs me £13.40 a month all in for everything for 18 months.
Speeds on torrents are a bit iffy at times but as soon as I VPN they are up to full speed.

I had multiple 5mb+ ps streams just last night working concurrently. Never had a problem and intend to resign with them shortly.

SSE throttle speeds.

BconT just drop them

I went with SSE a couple of months ago for "Ultra" Fibre package at £21 quid, since it was the same price as the "Super Fast" (or whatever it was).

Anyway, no complaints so far. Fits in with my usage patterns nicely.

I came back to BT in April from TalkTalk ... I cannot wait to leave them, so far they have lied to me, broken promises made during repeated phone calls to them, refused to listen to my complaint of my speed dropping and disconnecting intermittently, put my prices up, even though i have a letter from them saying that they will not ... The list is endless, unlike my broadband infinity one connection and BT channels which are not all there even though i have paid for them. After five months i have given up, theres so much more to life than trying to contact BT and actualy getting a truthfull and honest response, (without being disconnected mysteriously during call transfers) ... Like watching paint dry. Rant over

We moved and sadly realised that the fibre in the area is 18mb top speed, regardless of who we went with, broadband was only 8mb.

So after shopping around the SSE deal seemed the best for the price. And we've been with them for over 4 months now and when it comes to streaming - Netflix, Kodi, WWE, Sky Q, etc I have no complaints at all. We often have three different tv's all streaming at the same time.

Now, in regards to torrents and downloads, it is very hit and miss. At the beginning I'm pretty sure we were being throttled, but now I don't think we are, however, I don't tend to download anything as it's way quicker and easier to
stream things.

I am pretty gutted we're not benefitting from the faster speeds but for the price I can't complain. Actually, we've only just started paying for ours as they lost my router and credited me the time we were without the broadband and an additional £50. I can't comment online gaming but for streaming its pretty great.

People who moan about the speed should go out sometimes and enjoy fresh air. Im with them 1 year so far can highly recommend them, for money you will not get any better deals. Good luck with Sky and BT haha

With SSE for 18 months, no issues at all. Good router provided too, even though it's Technicolor.

ALL providers throttle and traffic shape. Whether they do as a blanket policy, at peak or for heavy users is up for discussion.

If you're a heavy downloader/torrent/Usenet then you really shouldn't be complaining about standard user grade services. Get yourself a specialist or use a VPN. You're still saving £££ on the content you should be paying for...

(As for 'never use', Plusnet are below AOL on my ranking)

Good price, yes. Good customer service too. But appallingly bad speeds because they've taken on more customers than their Daisy Wholesale network can cope with.

I'm still with them. Just. But I'm switching back to BT very shortly after agreeing with SSE that there will be no penalties for leaving the 18 month contract after just a few weeks. That took a bit of achieving, but it can be done, with perseverance, after you've decided that the low price really is no compensation for a broken internet.

I have two things to say about BT:

1. They are expensive.
2. Think I've had Infinity for about two and half years so far the speeds have been great and the service has been very reliable.

I suppose this means that you get what you pay for (and I'm a long way from being a fan of BT in general).

If they've been good why don't you re-sign rather than resign?

Before I signed up I emailed them and asked what my min and max speeds woould be. I got that reply in writing so if they throttle you below those speeds you can call them up and cancel as they are not delivering those min speeds. Yes it is slower in the night but as I don't host a p2p sports channel I don't find it a problem. At 21 quid and 137 cashback it was a no brainier. No there's not cashback at all but still a good price. Offer ends in november I believe.

Wow, thanks for the feedback, I have made a mental note not to use SSE, does anyone know what Plusnet fibre is like? I just placed an order.

throttling is appalling on the network. torrents are a no go really. I'm have been with them for a few months and now I want to try and find a way out. back to sky

Been there done that, if you don't mind youtube buffering and taking 2 hours to download a programme on the sky box go for it

I've been with them three months. Very hit and miss. At times very fast speed 60mb odd. Other times so slow I can't do anything, including checking email.

I'm paying half what I was paying BT so it's a difficult choice. I torrent and online game- at times it's excellent, but as others have said at peak times it can become very slow.

I ended up getting 3 months money back, plus 60£ compensation.

Still with them, but remains to be seen if I would resign with them.

I thought I'd give this a try a while back but they made such a mess of the switch I cancelled it all before they did any real damage. Never answer phone etc. Stuck with bt in the end, got them to reduce it enough that it just wasn't worth the risk switching. Only prob I have with bt is the price.

I've been with them for a few months and the same with me it's up and down.

Some evenings I'm getting up to 20 (50 in the day). Other evenings I can't even get 1. Have complained and they swear blind they don't throttle and the guy I spoke to said he has never heard of this issue before.

Will see how it goes.

We're talking about broadband providers here. All i'm saying is, don't be put of by a low rating for SSE on TrustPilot, because all broadband providers do on there.
