funny, because i bet they know the difference between 'there' and 'their'...

i was looking at the last deal but there seemed to be a lot of negative comments regarding the actual service, although it got hot from those, presumably, not in the know?

won't vote but would appreciate some clarity about whether they are able to deliver the service as described and whether the limitations were due to geography...

lol you got me

Always check out the costs of 'extras' - which are more like essentials when you get used to them. Like Caller ID and maybe number blocking at £3.25 a month each . Or Anonymous Call Reject at £4. We're used to having those included free on TalkTalk.

Also min 18 month contract may not suit some.

Its a 2 year deal. If you leave before that then they charge you for the broadband.

The hidden extras are shocking.. Got caller id and got them to give it to me for free after i complained after seeing my first bill

Been with them for 4 months. Lost all broadband for 5 days for no reason. The speed is low and worse at night and yes they have uk call centres however you will never speak to the broadband team as i suspect its only 1 person sitting in a cupboard somewhere. They are a power company messing about with broadband. Oh and the router they give out of complete mince.

So wouldn't recommend jumping on board

Fibre is good

SKY are offering a better 12 month package according to Martin Lewis £16.40 for twelve months for just line rental and free broadband and router. In addition you have a choice of a £100 e voucher for M& S or £100 credit on a mastercard and if you go through Topcashback you get £73.50 so after paying for delivery of router it is costing you approx £2.50 PER MONTH for twelve months!

Certainly helps keep me regular

17mb ???? I pay £17 a month for calls and broadband from fuel. My broadband is unlimited and the speed is 65mb.

I feel dirty saying this but, if you time it right (keep looking!) and taking into account cashback and BT-provided Sainsburys Gift Card BT have FIBRE (OK, 38mb as opposed to 76mb) deals that rival this price for standard BB. Certainly my 38MB fibre deal worked out at approx £8/mth net with free BT TV, free BT Sport HD and weekend calls. Only 12 months contracts now as well...

I took the last deal for phone and internet, transfer was faultless, customer service was fine and technical support was very good. UK Call center. Compared to the nightmare that BT has been for the last 5 years, it is another world.

Was interested in that to replace my BT, but they don't offer anything other than ADSL at up to 17 meg presently from what they say on their website

I just have the landline to facilitate having broadband. TalkTalk sales said exactly the same thing as you did when the retentions team was trying to make me stay. They had no comeback when I told them that I don't use any extras on the landline.

Think you have a special retention deal, or someone put through ultrafast fibre on your account instead of broadband.
I looked at all of the providers and found SSE the best for unlimited 76MB @ £24.50 p/m all in (and £100+ TCB/Quidco if you're moving over from BT).
Fuel weren't really that competitive at all when I checked them out.

£120 cashbook of Quidco when I signed up this week.

Signed up 6 weeks ago , line went live after 3 weeks but broadband still not set up as have to wait for them to migrate the service from bt. Not told this before hand.

Stole my words

Shame I cant sign up online as don't have a BT line. Can sign up by calling them but loose out on cashback

I have been with 3 isp up to now, if I had to rate the 3 in order of excellence it would be...
1/sky cant fault them with pings for gaming,
2/plusnet good but had slight probs with pings
3/talktalk, don't even go there lol
not tried SSE but id be abit wary and read the reviews

for those that are thinking of going with these ,I would also VERY carefully read all the CHARGES involved with this company, be it cancelling after 18 months, the engineer charges (which are extreme to say the least) should u have any problems

Didn't even think of Sky. Thanks for the tip! Been unable to access Martins site to check deals.
Well that's me moving to Sky after the 2nd price increase from Talk Talk in 3 months.

I've used the customer services/helpdesk recently 3 times and each time it takes at least 30 minutes to get through!!!

A very tempting offer, but traffic management policies break the deal for me. BT is not the cheapest but they do provide full speed fibre no matter the protocol used, or the time of day. A good deal from SSE indeed, but not for me. Heat added!

Yeah, they moved my line over on the 24th July and also switched the BB on the 24th.... of August! lol. I think they've been overwhelmed to be honest, the call centres are UK based and you don't get bounced around departments.

It's just BT Wholesale so syncs up and works as well as any service, the backhaul and IP seem to belong to "Daisy Communications". I get the max throughput to be expected, latency is low.

The WiFi on the supplied router is a little fickle, however SSE are happy to supply you with the PPPoA credentials so you can easily use different routers, etc.

Not bad for a longterm deal.

There were a few Sky offers recently but the band Spooks inspired their customer retention policy :-

"Welcome to the Karma Hotel
Looks like Heaven but could be Hell
Where pleasant screams transform to yells
And every suite casts its own spell
You could never leave, you made a pact with the Devil himself"

Who cares about call centres are UK or India if the broadband and connection is very good and never disconnects and there is never problems then you won't need to call them anyway I found a deal from Digital Telecom on a 24 month contract for £1.95 a month and you pay line rental upfront £132 so roughly £12,95 for unlimited internet and broadband with evening and weekend calls please someone reply I am posting this deal everywhere but no one seems to notice please tell me is this worth it shall I get it

I've just phoned TalkTalk to cancel as well.
Sky only seem competitve on basic broadband and not fibre. Undecided on where to go - leaning towards Plusnet at the moment.

Why does this deal get so hot? According to moneysaverexperts you enter a 2-years contract without knowing what the second costs you. Very odd that people concider entering such a contract. I'd like to know the total costs before I sign anything. This is cold from me.

In an ideal world... most of my contact is these telcos is rarely technical, it can be simple as them messing a bill up, setting up Direct Debits, passwords or pin codes for logins etc or chasing orders. Being bounced around the globe and having to queue then give them names, addresses, DOB's each time they forward (offload) you on to some other department quickly gets tiring. Unless your time is truly worthless and patience infinite.

EE are the worst for passing the buck, each time they forward you it gets cascaded into some ever degrading internal VOIP loop, by about the third transfer you have to shout to be heard and then they cut you off because they think nobody is on the line. They are the perfect match for BT, I can see why they want to buy them.

Decent service can matter.

I'm with Plusnet since 5 months. Initial setup was difficult but they eventually sorted it. My broadband cuts off from time to time for about 2 - 3 minutes. It's not my line or in-house equipment. It's frustrating when you download something. Plusnet hasn't been able to correct that. They say "plug the wire in the phone socket directly blah, blah, blah" but do not suggest a real solution.

It took them 7 weeks to transfer my broadband from Sky. Speed wise it's not great. I guess it's free so can't complain too much.

Was originally with O2 where I got 11Mb down/1.1Mb up. When they sold to sky I got 8Mb down/0.75Mbs up. It looked like I was being throttled so was keen to migrate. However now with SSE I get 8.5Mbs down/0.55Mbs up. This is all on the same line where I'm about 800m from the exchange.

Ping time is anything from 35ms - 51ms so not great for gaming. A lot of emphasis is put on downloads but the upload speed is just as important.
