About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

The Stagg EVN X-4/4 is a purely electric violin with a purely traditional form and since it's fitted with a direct headphone output, is perfect for more sociable home rehearsals. If you want to be heard, this violin can of course be connected to an amplifier. The maple body traces the frame of a classic violin and since this wood is quite dense, it adds transparency to the resonant sound. Just as you would find with high-quality acoustic violins, this instrument comes fitted with fine tuners for high tuning accuracy and also comes complete with a bow, soft case, resin, a set of stereo headphones and a 9V battery so you can immediately begin.

You can buy this without any prior practice or experience, take it down to the Tube platform and busk. As long as you put up a sign saying 'pay me to shut up' you will make loads of pennies!

I want it also, and I've never played violin! Though coincidentally, currently listening to Ed Alleyne Johnston 🎶 (edited)

but his has 5 strings makes all the difference - mayve Vagabonds followed by Purple?

If I was going to encourage my child to play a musical instrument, it would be piano or guitar and not violin, cello, trumpet etc.

With this thing....the sounds from a badly played violin are the last thing I'd want to be amplified.

Anyone remember learning to play violin at school and having a sponge secured by elastic bands as the chin rest? (edited)

But with an electric violin you can play without amplification and that's much more quiet than a regular acoustic violin. Amplification is there if you need it for a boost or for effects, but you can still play acoustically.

If it gets too annoying, you can get a violin mute for it...

The bow on these is awful, the violin could be passable if you replace the bow and cheap strings. Still ok for a starter instrument.
