Crap, I just bought this, why so cold?

EDIT: Just saw the post from yesterday for the RX Vega 56 for just under £400 which is hot. Don't get it!

I know perception is poor and justifiably so regarding Vega 64 not hitting what people had hoped. But if the 56 is getting hot at £70 cheaper than this, this has to be a good deal. They're happy 56 performs against a 1070, but the price difference of a 1070 to 1080 is higher than £70. And those who were expecting TI performance from to 64, well currently there's nearly £300 price difference between 1070 and 1080TI.

maxcovergold: beats me mate.by far the cheapest i've seen it for, i reckon it's not a bad deal for it's price especially if the HBCC will be enabled too in the near future.

Indeed. I'm sure the card will mature well over time, just not sure how much so. I was going to wait for AIB cards with partner coolers, but I reckon they'll be around £550 for a while if not higher (complete guess), bit of a gamble. I spoke to scan and apparently if you're not happy with the card (i.e. noise and heat) can return within 14 days. Wish it had been 30 days as might have left it boxed until other cards appear.
This should be a reasonably warm deal.

RX480 did not mature over time. GTX1060 is still faster in most games. I had to sell mine and buy the GTX.

This AMD 'Fine Wine' is just overhyped.

You barely are getting 5% more, likely much less (I don't really want to attempt the math for all of them).

Some of the games get a big uplift from start/end, but it generally is the case that these games were don't change by much.

People need to stop saying "Just wait, AMD GPU will be better, #FineWine" because in reality, you are locked in to a certain FPS range at purchase.
I don't disagree but new products always improve with newer drives vs over those at release and looking at the changes of Vega, I'd imagine it's improvements are more likely to be notable compared to the more matured GTX. Lots of the tech in Vega isn't in use yet.

All guess work but not without merit. Completely agree that if your not happy with performance at time of purchase then don't buy. Just seen the 1080 deal for just over £500. Tbh if I didn't have a fresync monitor I'd prob have gone gtx, or had I thought I'd likely nab a TI like @The_Hoff for close to £600!
same price at overclockers

I've stopped believing anything The_Hoff says, he's claimed that he's purchased all sorts of items. I think I saw a heated discussion about buying an RX Vega 56 for 379.99 and selling it for almost 500 quid quid...

Anyway, at this price, skip it!

Did you kept your Stand Alone RX Vega 64? They are selling it again for £499. Is it really new and unused? Just without the box? Thanks!

I returned it as I managed to get a used 1080TI for £515. No regrets there!
